I'm afraid I was suckered in by him last time round and I'm not doing it again. Won't boo but definitely won't cheer, he is a time bomb on the pitch and snake behind the scenes. You have to earn respect and he would need a couple of perfect seasons behaviour before I would even consider entertaining him again.
A very mixed reaction: I said after the Man City sending off that I never want to see him in the hoops again, but that was thinking that we would still be in the PL. The Championship is different, if he wants to pick up his career with us, I would imagine that he would be an asset. Despite being a prick, he has a winner mentality and gives 100%.
Sorry mate, but cant abree with that at all. I would never boo a player wearing our colours but I wouldn't be unhappy if he got run over by a bus. bloke is poison and at least most others with his attitude and self belief can deliver. he cant and hasn't..hence the reason he's back with us !! Definitely the worst signing (including Bos) that QPR have ever made. Not because of his lkack of footballing ability, but also the poison he injected into the dressing room. FACTS ARE- he been let go by his previous clubs because not only is he a to**er but he aint very good. We didn't miss him at all last year and since when has anyone ever seen Barton "Boss" a game..? Folklore and myths I think..! Get rid, selll, give away, assassinate as soon as possible. Im willing to put money that if he stays this season, then we don't go up....?
Flyer - I agree but compare last seasons atmosphere to the previous and it was nowhere near the same. Bosingwa deserved what he got for blatant disregard for the club. But discussing booing before a ball has been kicked can only be caustic. The club need support to get the season off to a great start. If Barton plays I will be pleased a player that will give it 100% is playing. M'bia got boo'd relentlessly towards end of season for his twitter comments. If we boo half the team when their names are read out it sets the tone for the season. We need to get behind the team and let them know if they aren't pulling their weight rather than doing it from the start.
I agree with you and all the other nonbooers. We have just been relegated, we are in a certain amount of turmoil and we need to sort things out. Booing anyone at this stage is negative and we need to take a positive stance. Not booing Barton isn't supporting him or accepting him for now, but instead, it is doing our job of supporting our team. Clean the slate, stabilise and move forward.
I would have to see what his attitude looked like from the start. If he played against Sheff Wed and gave 100% and was man of the match, I would have no other choice than to support him.
I haven't ever booed a QPR player either, but I take Flyer's point about making fans views known to management. It should only be used sparingly otherwise the whole of team morale can be adversely affected. I have booed a manager's decision however. I remember Gavin Mahon having an absolute mare at LR, and after half time, the manager (I think it was Paulo Sousa) subbed another player who was doing quite well. Fans were up in arms and Mahon was making apologetic gestures at the crowd as if to say, it should have been me, I wanted to go!
.....and what if he doesn't. I'm so disappointed that we can't get rid of him, maybe he will realise that he is not such a sought after commodity. We all know what a prized idiot he is, despite good performances on the pitch. Doesn't deserve to be in the first team squad let alone on the pitch. He's a disgrace to the hoops. Let him clean the boots only. No nearer to the first team than that.
It's a tough league and I want us to win it. Would never boo and QPR player. Interesting what the home reaction would be if he played and scored.
Roller, you asleep, why haven't you locked this thread yet?? I was too busy swearing and pulling my hair out (what's left of it) to boo anyone last season. And to be honest, a crowd turning on one of his own players is one of the ugliest experiences in football, makes me want to walk out of the stadium. I suppose everyone has the right to boo, but it really makes me cringe.
I agree. The treatment Blackburn got when they went down was about the worst I have seen and I think they would have stayed up if their fans had not turned on them. We'll really struggle again this season if we don't give the Players and Management good support.
I strongly believe the whole ethos and spirit among the players will be improved. Harry seems to be keeping the "troublemakers" away from the main squad and when Mackie asked for a transfer, he was away before he'd finished his sentence...
I never booed then, he was having a mare and knew it, I never even booed Barton when he had his mare against Liverpool. Both were trying 100% However I couldnt accept that prick swanning around without a care in the world despite being at fault for 2 goals.
Or he could have been sacked months earlier and they might have stayed up. You cant blame the fans, he was a shocking manager and the same would have happened here if Hart had stayed here for a year. I really cant understand how fans can just sit there and watch the club be destroyed by certain individuals. Again, the fans will only turn in the players or manager if they deserve it. They wont be the source of the problem. However idiots that have a go no matter how good a player is playing deserve a kick in the nuts.
Agree about Bosingwa. I can't ever remember a QPR player that indifferent to the cause. I don't think anyone was booing Gavin Mahon, and if they were, it was wrong. All players go off form at some time. But the crowd were frustrated by the manager's decisions, since everyone could see he should come off including the player
The 4 times I remember the crowd getting really bad were Barton and Mahon which I think was wrong, it was just one of those days for them. The other 2 were Boswanka and the 2-1 win when we finished with 6 defenders and Hart was utterly clueless. in the latter cases, both times the crowd got rid of the personnel. Would anyone here rather the crowd not do anything and Boswanka/Hart stayed until their contracts run out?
Thats where you're wrong mate. Barton is not a international star, but given a chance he would be important player in our championship side. Still, maybe theres too much bad blood between fans and Barton.
Everytime I see his contorted little scouse mug putting the knee into Ageuro it makes me laugh - so on that basis, I'm not sure.
