Just looked down that list and realized that the only ones I am excited about seeing play are Faurlin, Taiwo, Diakite, Cisse, Traore and perhaps Onuoha. How long before we have a couple of exciting home grown youngsters in this squad! This doesn't mean I don't support them all or want them all to do well of course..... Oops, forgot Adel.
You're right, Norway, that now is not the time to start withdrawing our support for any of the team and, of course, I'll be cheering on Joey on Saturday. Nor do I think it would be wise to change captaincy at this stage, and I'm sure Hughes won't do that. We live with decisions that have already been made, and can reflect at the end of the season, how wise they were. like any other player.
Some fantastic opinions on this debate lads and never really thought it would open such a can of worms as it has! Barton has to be my biggest disappointment of the season as i never thought swp was that good anyway. In comparison to wages earned then i think it is highly relative. he and his agent think he's worth the money but more foolishly our board agreed. to be a good midfielder you need a bit of everything. joey has limitations that in my opinion he has not yet realised. some could say that Taraabt has many limitations but in his and our favours these are things that can and are being improved ie his tracking back and work rate. unfortunately joeys ability will nite improve at this time in his career.
What im trying to say is if this is barton giving his all and %100 then he obviously hasn't got much to offer!
Sorry i've skipped a few responses to post this, but it was Jamie Mackie who cut up betty's ugg boots, although it was Barton who posted a picture of them. Just sayin'
We were linked with Muntari on loan back then. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...-and-fulham-radars-after-cheap-transfer-offer But id have picked dozens of other players available ahead of him but they are difficult to name as their status isnt public, eg no on would have picked Diakite to come to us before it got into the press.
Im not sure who was available. just wish we had got Scott parker. my point is that you could look through the lower leagues to find players like barton. take Bradley Johnson of norwich, I've never rated him and Leeds fans weren't bothered to see him go yet he is as good as barton. i wouldn't have bought him but howson i would. noble of west ham or collision.
This my list for top performers and disaipointed ones: Top performers 2011-2012 1. Heidar Helguson 2. Alejandro Faurlin 3. Luke Young 4. Jamie Mackie 5. Joey Barton Disapointed ones 1. Adel Taarabt 2. Shaun Wright-Phillips 3. Jay Bothroyd 4. Anton Ferdinand 5. Paddy Kenny Cisse ,Zamora ,Dyer (especially),DJ Cambell, Diakate have not playing enough to judge them. All the other players i did not named are on the "grey area"
Okay, think it's time to return to the forums, after taking a "cooling off" period after dissappointing defeat on sat evening. If we really think about it, how much of the ratings given to players are based on our personal feelings towards the player in question, rather than the performance itself? Each and every one of us could think about it. Here's a page where all feelings are taken out of the equasion, and ratings are based purely on game performance... http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/171 As we can see, Barton is still our 3rd best goal scorer, shared no1 in assists (together with one of our other favorites, SWP), and 3rd in overall ratings. He's made 3rd most tackles, 2nd most interceptions, 34/137 accuracy in crosses, which is better than Traore (10/45), Taarabt (21/94), Young (11/48), blocked 7 shots, which is second only to Derry, outside the CBs, and has been dispossessed 32 times, which is not too many compared to Faurlin (26), Mackie (26), SWP (39), Taarabt (53) so think he gets a bit too much criticism just for being Joey... In the last game his stats were quite good: 89% Pass Accuracy 97 Touches 1 Foul 2 Total Shots 6 Tackles Rating 7.5 To me he was the best in otherwise mediocre/poor side last game, and not undeservingly. What worries me, looking at the stats is that many of our defenders have worse pass success rate than JB...
So it seems here in scandinavia we concentrate to wrote only on how player is performing on the pitch. We dont seem to bother about his wages ,twittertweets and personality.........
This just confirms that way too many are judging Barton's performance on the park, not by what he is doing on the park, but by the peripherals.
Those stats are complete bollocks, Barton has been better over the season than Cerny Strengths, scoring direct FKs? WTF! They have 433 as our most used formation. MOM - Barton 2 - Cerny 0 I can only conclude they dont watch us.
So you think Cerny should have a couple Mom's? played in 5 games where we lost 4 and drew 1... As for the free kicks, it must mean we get many direct free kicks, it doesn't say "scoring FROM direct free kicks" (atleast that's my guess). There are a few weaknesses too, are those wrong? But the formation should probably be 451 or 4231, i give you that I'm sure they don't watch all our games, they use Opta statistics for their analysis and stats. If they'd be watching and liking some players/teams, the player ratings would surely be different, with feelings and emotions coming in the picture. This is only the match facts speaking, no personal opinion or feelings taken into account.
Cerny was the best player on the pitch for the liverpool game, did you not see it? Wed have lost 6 or 7 nil if we had Kenny in goal that day. He pulled off amazing save after amazing save. LFW has him down as MOTM for both Liverpool and Man U and the guy hates him as Cerny ousted his mancrush Camp. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/fb_results.php Number of Barton MOTMs = 0. As for weaknesses, you could pretty much write anything and theyd be right.
So I think we have clearly established that there is some kind of Scandanavian thing going on with regard to our Joey. Does he satisfy some kind of deep seated need in the booze saturated physce's of the men in Oslo, Helsinki and Gothenberg who are hunkered down for their long winter? Statistics show there is a lot of suicides in these parts as they work their way through long days without too much daylight so perhaps the focus on Barton is part of a general death wish for QPR. The problem is obviously just environmental rather than genetic however, as I shared a tube carriage with an irate Swede after Saturday's debacle and he was very clear about his thoughts on Barton's performance to the extent that some American tourists suggested he mind his language. Maybe you guys should just hop on a plane to LR for the Everton game to get a reality check. If you still feel the same way afterwards I will gladly discuss it over a beer. Skål!
Didn't see the L'pool game, one of the few I have missed this season but he did get best player rating (8) from our players in that one by far, the 2nd being, surprise, surprise, Barton (6,9) . Too bad Suarez got the MoM in that one, with goal, shot on post and a 6-yard block. The MoM statistics would surely look different if best player in both teams would get nomination in each game.
No suicidal tendencies here, I can assure you. Just don't like players to be slagged off at every turn, no matter how they do, just because of something they've done in the past. Think Barton would get the same treatment even if he'd play a perfect game, score 2 goals and assist one, make 23 tackles and have 99% passing success, just because that one pass didn't find his team mate As much as i'd like to make my way down to LR, don't think i'll be able to make it this season, but i'll be with u all and the team in spirit watching the games home (as long as i find a working stream) and celebrating every point and survival in the prem in close season
Kippis FinnHoop. Outside of the great Barton mystery I for one am very appreciate of the long standing relationship between QPR and our large following of Scandanavians. It is one of the things that makes our little club unique IMO.
