Yes I understand where you are coming from but you also have to see it from my POV. I agree to disagree with you...and it looks like it's split a lot of us along the way.

It's still getting 'dragged up' because the government have held back some of the documents. You have to ask the question... Why would they do that? If they have got nothing to hide, why hold back some of the documents?

The families of the people who died that day have had 22 years of the various government holding back documents and it is time those documents were released.

That is a qoute from the Cabinet Office. I think the key point in that quote is 'Information should be managed'

Why should the information be managed?! Shouldn't it just be released?

That is why this issue will continue to be brought it. We don't know the full truth. There are documents which various governments refuse to release.

    Why?

And I would be pretty confident you wouldn't be saying these things if you knew somebody who lost their life on the 15th of April 1989.

There are tons of occasions we will NEVER see all papers.......Miners Strike, Iraq etc etc..........it's just how ALL governments get civil servants work.

You will NEVER get the truth. That was my reason for the post. Closure is a personal thing but have the victims had millions from it...........NO...........lawyers have.

    Move on.

    Pretty short sighted statement there.

In an ideal world all the facts would be made available to the families, sadly the world we live in is far from ideal. If the government want things kept under wraps it'll take more than a petition for it to happen.

    So true mate.

It doesn't matter who you support, we as football fans should never forget what happened that day.

Dont think for one second it couldn't have been Toon fans that day, or any other team.
It just happened to be Liverpool.

The way fans used to get treat and the state of the grounds, including SJP, the rest of us were just lucky and shouldn't forget that.

If it had been us, we would be doing exactly the same.

I hope they do get closure and dont get fobbed off again.

Hate to be cynical but maybe Joey is using this as easy, good publicity? Will look good to anyone involved with Hillborough and plenty more. Maybe that guy he hired to give him a new "image" advised him on this one lol

Not everyone can assess situations and circumstances which affect them personally with complete precision and accuracy. Joey obviously feels quite strongly about this and if you respect him as a person, why not take a minute to help him and show your support. It will probably do him a world of good if his real fans got behind him on this

Sitting on a forum whinging about things like Hillborough is just as detrimental to its memory as completely ignoring it

I'm on the scousers' side here. Why would the government withhold what could be vital documents of evidence unless there was some evidence of gross misconduct and wrongdoing on their part?
Not just for the families to receive closure and justice, but also for the debate about re-introducing standing into stadia nationwide, i.e. if the true facts are out then they can be used in an new guidelines if standing was to be seriously considered.

Also just because it's twenty years ago doesn't make it any less relevant today, you can't possibly comment on what it feels like unless you were related to one of the 96 or friends with one of them (to have to not only lose a loved one, but to then be lied to by the very institution that is there to supposedly help & support you for the past twenty years - it probably makes the grief even worse tbh as you can't just let go and have closure).

I signed it. Think about the families!

There are some of those families who have been lied to about the whole cut off point situation and when their loved ones died. I'd feel ****ing sick!
