In over 40 years of supporting QPR, this is the strongest I've felt over any one player.

Disruptive, arrogant, aggressive, brings the Club into disrepute, hollow and shallow apologies via twitter, overpaid, does not lead by example.

Oh, and not a great footballer.

    Get rid.

You shouldn't be over on the Norwich board making excuses for Joey Barton.

Excusing the inexcusable to other Club's fans does the reputation of our Club no good whatsoever.

I said that he should be banned but that the ban was needlessly draconian and based on who he is more than what he did. Writing on a forum viewed by a tiny percentage of a club's fans doesn't affect the reputation of the club and most of them have made their mind up that he's the next Goebbels anyway.

I renewed my season ticket today and it sticks in the craw that I've shelled out £600 knowing that some of it is going towards paying Barton's over inflated wages.

Don't be surprised if he is still playing for QPR after the ban. I reckon it would be very expensive to sack him as we might have to pay up the remainder of his contract. Tony F didn't make his millions on sentiment and is a business man, as much as most of us want Barton gone I don't think getting rid makes financial sense and for that reason I think he will stay.

Exactly what sort of reception he thinks he is going to get next time he plays is anybody's guess. I reckon the first game he comes back for will be an away game just to break him and the fans in again.

My heart says get shot of him but my head thinks he will hang around even after what ever fine or disciplinary is dished out by the club.

Watford, I think on the face of it you have a case that the punishment is excessive compared to what others have got. For what it's worth Danny Mills and Robbie Savage agree with you. So the sense of injustice is understood (by me at least).
But what do you think of his future with the club? Personally I am fed up with the circus that surrounds Barton and want him gone, because ultimately he makes the team worse.

Savage, who I think is a decent pundit, said that based on his knowledge of Hughes he would be surprised ifvBarton played for QPR again.

Well, he was one of the few who consistently said we'd stay up. I'm shallow enough to reward any positivity with favor.

I agree. If we can legally get rid of him without paying him off then it would be for the good of the club as the bloke is clearly a liability and, as a footballer, not worth the wages he's on (though he's not on close to the ludicrous sums printed in some papers and then taken as fact on here) but I feel the same way about plenty of the squad in that regard. If we'd have to pay his contract off then I'd rather keep him.

I think that just about summes up the way I feel. Well apart from the season ticket but I can easily grasp where you're coming from. Cheers Grove <ok>

Watford makes a perfectly valid point as what we've seen today from the FA is UNPRECEDENTED. Keegan and Bremner got 11 games after their Charity Shield fight, Di Canio got 11 games for showing the ref. But at the end of the day, what Barton did was unforgivable and undefendable. And if he had got 8 instead of 12 games it doesn't hide the severity of his actions.

Interesting SB if Savage is on the money with his comment re Hughes. If he's right then the majority on here will get their will.

Am I the only one thinking that the FA are saying that violent conduct is worse than assaults on officials and racial abuse with this ban? Woy Keane got a lesser ban for that horror tackle on Haaland as did Thatcher for that elbow on Mendes.

Wonder if the club will add additional games on to the ban as Man City did with Thatcher?

My personal opinion is that it warranted a 15 match ban at least, but it's been decided now.

Not really comparable imho. I'd ban him though for putting his boots on to receive his medal like some overgrown racist mascot.

He should have just laid someone out, broken their jaw and he would have got half the games.

I do think he got a more severe sentence because he is Barton. The "headbutt" wasnt an attempt to make contact because he was miles away so it should have been 8 games but still, get rid of the twat.
