Two reasons. 1) Our previous board continually lied to us, so we never believed anything they said 2) No one bid for him? (to be read in a slightly incredulous voice). No one? Don't you find that staggering? I know I don't like him and don't want him here, but not because he can't play the game. I guess some would have been put off by his wages, but, no one? That just doesn't make sense. Maybe more people think my way than are letting on!
80k a week for a player with the worst off-field rep in English football, who has only managed 15-20 games a season for 4 years and who wanted 4 years with his high wages. The only teams he'd be worth the hassle to are yourselves, Norwich, Swansea, Arsenal and Blackburn. None of those have the money so you get him
We were surprised too that no one bid. There was a lot of interest (Arsenal, Everton, Villa, Stoke, Celtic, West Ham and yourselves) but because of his short contract, high wages and considerable baggage we didnt receive any bids. Nothing to do with his quality, we as fans will certainly miss him.
