Unfortunately not, can rarely get to away games. And just to clear up, he left on a free as he totally and publicly fell out with the chairman (which started from a breakdown in contract talks and finished with a perceived lack of ambition) and no one made a bid, so they decided to let him go for free in an attempt to get him to leave.
Putting a slightly different spin on this entertaining duel between Roller and Colly I'd like to pose a question. Roller, considering you don't want Barton at the Club because of his conduct in the past (a very understandable position) and considering Neil Warnock's regrettable behaviour in the past as a Manager (obviously in a different manner and not nutting people!), why didn't you take a similar position on COLIN when he joined the Club? And a question to Col is: Does it all depend on success? I.E. If Barton turns out to be useless for us on the field does he, instead of him being a good prospect that deserves a chance, simply revert to "that mindless yob who never should've been signed in the first place?
Can't he be applauded for turning his life around and giving up the booze? Have those of you who are condemning him for that video never been in a stupid fight you regret the next day during your youth after one (or five) too many? Barton is far, far better than anything else we have in the midfield, is experienced in this league which anyone who has seen us this season can see we are lacking hugely and is a leader on the pitch. We've got a chance of being a modern day Wimbledon which some might not be in favour of but I think would be superb.
Getting into a fight is a different story to what we can see on that video. Sorry, but if someone is already finished you do not try to kill that person unless you are totally out of order - no matter you had a few too many. This man is a lunatic and does not belong to QPR.
As it happens, I did. I will admit it was more for the style of play I was expecting, than his character, but I did put up complaints on the old 606 board. I also got moaned at for calling him Colin. However, I don't think that our Uncle Neil is is Barton's class. Warnock certainly as been a thoroughly unpleasant person, and I would hate to be the 4th official, but I don't think he has stubbed out his cigar on anyone's eye ball. My opinion isn't based on one incident but a whole catalogue of them. If he can prove he has turned his life around, I'm big enough to come back on here and admit that I was wrong. This won't be proven in the short term though. Sorry Swords, I had to go to work! How do you know I'm not ginger anyway? I actual thought that Col and I had put this one to bed, it may be best to let this thread die shortly.
Some of us have to work Swords!! As Roller says, he and I have talked this to death and have agreed to differ. To answer your question, if Barton proves to be a flop on the pitch I'll be disappointed, end of!!
Why not? He makes no secret of the fact he hates our board and neither of them made an attempt to fix the relationship. No one bid so to encourage offers he was made available on a free. Not because he is a bad player, just didnt attract the interest the chairmen or Barton expected.
