If correct that explains the on pitch appreciation. How about the post season celebrations together when they went on the lash in london finishing up singing drunken songs on the underground, and inter player tweets?
I call bullshit. Barton and Derry seem to be good friends and used to talk on twitter etc a lot, Barton definitely seemed to be in with the Hill, Mackie, Derry crowd at least for the first half of the season
Whatever the truth of the story, team sure looked casual against West Brom... and cost us three points cos they were there for the taking. That places as many question marks against Barton's, and for that matter Hughes' leadership as it would if the half time scrap happened. Something's got to give. We need to be able to boost our resolve when under-performing, which brings us back to our leadership, discipline and Plan B concerns under Warnock. If the fight happened and Hughes still allowed both back out in the second half, it means insufficient quality resources. Hughes has certainly got his work cut out before the far east trip in July. First stop, sort out the captaincy.
I wouldn't be surprised if it had happened tbf but as was said above these things happen all the time in football. They seem to have made up enough to go out celebrating together. Apologies if posted previously. I know it's been up on WATRB.
Players might have not liked him but put on a brave face for the good of the team (like it or not, Barton had to play almost every game since Faurlin got injured as we had no one to replace him), kind of like 2 parents hating each other but staying together for the good of the child. Id love to speak to them after Barton has gone to find out what they really thought of him.
