Hopefully he gives Baines a good shift at the weekend. Last nights game should give him a lot of confidence.

I thought he was gunna score just after we made it 3-1. Gutted he missed

Yeah, my stream cut off and as soon as I get another one up and running there is Ba putting through Obertan in space, couldn't believe it. Almost identical miss to his shot the other week weirdly.

It was really interesting the way Pardew deployed Obertan last night.

It was almost like we were playing a 4-3-3, with Obertan pushed right up forward and Jonas on the other flank helping R.Taylor by doubling up on their attacking threats. Pardew put his confidence in Obertan as our outlet and it paid dividends. I saw two great potential sides to his game last night - 1) got his head up and put in a brilliant cross for the first goal and 2) his strength. He was holding the ball up at one point and I had to do a double take because I thought it was Best at first.

If Obertan can keep playing this way consistently then I'd say him, certainly for our style of play now. Barton was only effective on the right side when we had Carroll, delivering crosses from deep onto his bonce. After Carroll left Barton struggled.

Yeah haha. Ba looks great like, is it just me who thinks he could turn out to be a Drogba type player? Where he becomes a world class player.

Drogba never really got recognised as world class up until he was about 27/28 when he signed for Chelsea and I think Ba could turn out like that. He looks fantastic

Bloody hope so, 8 goals in 9 games is just phenomenal and if he kept that sort of record going all season we'd certainly have a Drogba on our hands.

He has 17 starts in the Premier League and 15 goals. Pure class.

Only Van Persie and Rooney who has got more this year

Obertan's a bit of a luxury player in that he'll be man of the match one week, then absolutely ****e the next, he was brilliant v Stoke, Blackburn and to a lesser extend Arsenal and Fulham, but very poor in our other games.

I've been saying Obertans one of the reasons we are doing so well but people don't see it.

Cheers HH. Barton is an 'against all odds' sort of grafter, if you're down a goal or two he's likely to get stuck in and spur the team on and I'm sure that will show in your team eventually. In other news, good to have a PL old boy in QPR back up in the league too; it's just a shame you don't have another Sir Les we can nick from you ;)

Both very different players, with our recent form I'm inclined to say Obertan, but imo Barton is a better player.
