So Doug thinks we'll need a hard-tackling, committed and skillful midfielder in early November, which is when JB will be available by.

Ho hum. What are we going to do, how are we going to cope?

I mean, it's not like Ali will have been back for (hopefully) more than a month by then, is it?

Hes had more than enough chances in football. Hes a 1st class prick and not even a good player. I dont want anyone at the club who think twitter is more important than playing well for a club playing him over 50k a week.
 
Really should have done this earlier if MH had no plans to include him. Another big cross for management. Two games into the season and in the last week of the transfer window, we're having to waste time sorting him out!
 
I'm beginning to believe we are in the presence of mr jb himself reading some comments on here.

It's all irrelevant, he is out the door one way or the other. Is the club giving him a hard time, yeah maybe, but then he did agree to leave the tweets alone and behave himself, instead he has upped his tweets to a new all time high, started his own web site and come out with comments about Newcastle being a proper club, not very complimentary or a wise comment unless he intended to get a reaction. And a reaction he has now got, we've called his bluff an made it easy for another team to come and buy him.

Will Barton stick by his word that it's not about money and accept any offers? We shall see this week.

Then hopefully that will be the end of the Barton threads.

You are dead right we have no replacement for Barton. It was crystal clear at the end of last season that we needed a good quality PL starting 11 Keeper, at least 1 CB, and at least 1 CDM. We haven't done any of them yet which is a big concern. Barton is finished with us like it or not - but he did a job for us and that position does need filling bad. Derry's legs are going, Ale, Diakite and Park are all better in different roles. Teams even as weak as Norwich are and will rip through our weak central midfield and defence, unless we strenthen there.

Clear to everyone except MH and TF.
Massive failure in our summer transfer strategy. We didn't sign a decent spine to build the team around. No point having a bunch of wide men if we have nothing in the middle. Now we're scrambling around at the last minute like the rest of them, and I'm pretty sure TF didn't have this in mind when we did our 'business early'.

I thought the same, I even looked at the join date.

People saying we need him because we need a CM make no sense. We need a CM, not Barton.

That would be like you needing a car so someone tells you that you need a trabant!

Exactly, theres no forethought, you need a tough spine. GK, CB, CM and CF. they are our weak spots but we have about 10 wide players though!
 
Are any of you guys truly shocked that it would end this way with Barton though ? Surely most would have had their doubts when he signed.
