I won't comment on anything The Sun says because we all know it thrives on all the virtues: sensationalism, exageration (breast implants) and spin. In other words: lies. If there's any truth in what The Sun says on this or anything else, I'm not inclined to dig through all the face paint to find it.

Oddly enough, feel the same way about football agents...

As for Joey Barton, in the context of, as someone mentioned earlier, 'insane' football money, he obviously went for what he thought he was worth to the club - and probably expected to get under the circumstances.

Club / Ashley didn't agree and must've been pretty intransigent. I don't think Joey wanted to leave the Toon at all - and couldn't believe Ashley would be so ready to let him go.

Barton is a reactionary kinda guy and as we all know, immediately went and vented his spleen on twitter. Seemed mortified when he realised he'd burned his bridges.

This showed when, after the deal was all but done and he'd had his medical at Rangers, he hung back to think things over for another day or two. Frustrated the **** out of us, all the waiting! It showed again in his interactions with his old team mates and you fans at the end of the game. That weren't acting.

The cynics say that Barton delayed his decision to put pen to paper because he was hoping Ashley would up his offer. So ****ing what? Apart from being an integral part of a team that's been moving in the right direction for a couple of years or more, the lad's just turned 29 (with four or five years in him) and he needs to get the best deal he can. Nothing wrong with that. Commonsense if you ask me. I reckon if Ashley'd repeated the offer Joey'd originally turned down, he would've been a Toon player Monday night. End of.

That's the way it looks to me and probably most other Rs fans. No doubt he'll become an R pretty soon and possibly one of our greats in time but Joey's quite loyal for a modern day mercenary footballer. He could, and I think fully expected to have finished his career with just the two clubs to his name.

Lucky for us it'll just have to be three now!!

Barton is a little **** who only followed the filthy lucre.... there are very few loyal people left in the game and wor Bobby must be turning in his grave.
