I agree with that - our bonus win would be slightly undermined by anything other than a Blackburn loss. It's not easy for me to support Man U but I'll be screaming for them on Monday.
Forgiven? Why would Barton need forgiveness? He has done nothing wrong. Poor performances yes, but thats the gaffers job to sort, now it's sorted end off. The ones who are in need of forgiveness are the w****** who were boing him before.
A mate (in Canada) once told me his 3 favourite teams were, in this order, QPR, England and whoever was playing against MUFC. I almost agreed at the time, at least with his first and third choice (I do still hope to see Canada some day return to the World Cup) but on Monday next its c'mon Man U Yup, 7-nil would be a good result just now - and as I read elsewhere, let that lead to complacency for next weekend
Oh, I forgot - Foey can score a hatful of them 7, if he wants - maybe not all might not be forgiven but most of it will
Not at all swords. The point I was trying to make was some have appeared blinkered to slating him no matter what. My hope being that they can recognise and appreciate a good performance under pressure circumstances without being blinded by his rep.
I really think some of the 'Barton Haters' should read the Captains notes from yesterday and see how the boos and jeers effect the players. He isn't an Angel by far but he certainly isn't the Devil that some make out.
Relieving him off set piece duties was long overdue and no doubt took the pressure off him too. Taarabt's deliveries were excellent.
i do not think barton should have become a qpr player..have said so all season. however i can appreciate a fine performance from him shame it has taken until the seasons nearly finished for him to walk the walk before we carry him off on our shoulders lets see if he can do it for the next seven games i will support anyone who wears the hoops if they are putting in 100% effort(even swp) prove me wrong barton if you can i will be the first to start the I apologise to joey thread still going for 17th
Yep, really get them over-confident and they'll sleepwalk into another shock home defeat. I hope MH is showing the lads a video of Bilbao's win at OT, the same high-pressure tactics we used yesterday...
Surely, you are not asking us to feel sorry for Joey are you..... He is what he always has been, and at a personal level I dont like him. BUT i believe he has always been a good player, until we signed him. So while i dont like him, i accepted that he was probably what we needed to progress. But he has been "pretty average" to say the least!! He had a good game last night but went missing every now and again. I think he has stepped up and upped his performances, so I can only back him for making that extra effort !!
That is part of it. His delivery from set pieces has been awful for the most part and why he was allowed to continue to take them all week after week was quite strange. Even mixing it up bewteen two or three of the other players would have been better. Now that he has be relieved of those duties there was less to get up the fans' noses. He could concentrate on what he does best - mixing it. The second part of it has to be the twittering. Some of the remarks - and the timing of those remarks - just got up people's noses. The past is the past and the future is the future (very droll I know). Hopefully he now realizes that success comes from hard work, using your talent to the full and performance on the pitch and NOT from having 1,000,000 "followers" on twatter or by being outspoken just because you can. He is one of the highest profile footballers in the country. Unfortunately a lot of this comes from antics off the field over the years and more recently on twatter. Let us hope that from now on he can retain his high profile for footballing reasons alone. Good luck to you Joey. Get on with your job and give us all something to cheer about.
Not at all mate. How possibly could any of us feel sorry for someone who is earning 80 grand a week for playing football. Just saying that the boos and the jeers are obviously effecting the team. Yep, if a player or the team are playing bad then we all as paying individuals have a right to express our opinion BUT also as paying individuals (and supporters) we have to accept the responsibility of being the '12th man' and making Loftus Rd into the fortress that it once was and still can be. Yesterday, as against Chelsea and Man City before hand, the place was buzzing. At times you could feel the noise from the crowd, and at times certain players in the Arsenal team did look effected (Walcott ??). We as fans can play a very big part of our future and i'm pleased to say, hand on my heart, however bad a game a player has been, once he puts on the blue and white hoops, he won't get booed by me.
I have been very critical of Joeys performance this season, but would like to state that I thought that he and every player from Paddy down to Bobby were magnificent yesterday.
Agree. I don't hold with fans booing their own players but the fact is, the message got through loud and clear. Joey has had his eye off the ball (sometimes literally) for a while with off the field antics. Fans knew he could play like he did yesterday, and were frustrated they weren't seeing it. I too wish Joey good luck. Play like you did yesterday for the rest of the season, Joey, and you might well inspire our team out of the bottom three permanently.
Goldhawk, do you think that the booing and jeering directed at JB during the Liverpool game had anything to do with him being dropped for the Sunderland game or do you think that MH could see what (I'm told) was clearly visable to one and all that night?? Personally i'd like to think MH knows his stuff and would of taken said decision anyway, without the boos. (BTW , above is a question out of interest NOT a pop at anyone 'cos in writing it might come over as that)
I think the booing had a positive effect on him, if nothing happened, he might have carried on putting in the same level of effort, still trying the low percentage hollywood balls rather than keeping it simple.
