One thing that may help us going forward, Barnsley have a tough away derby with Doncaster on Friday. For me that makes a draw in this a decent result, this game is going to take a bit out of both sides, no question, an us having an extra day before a more than winnable home game against Walsall is an advantage.
He looks a little lightweight for this league getting lumps kicked out of him but would imagine in a bit more of a technically gifted league he'd do really well. In all honesty we really weren't very good but came away with a point and tomorrow's game is massive.
Barnsley manager says that Sunderland have players who shouldnt even be playing in this league. Too good for this league. I beg to differ.
I'd say we have 3 or 4 who are probably better than our level. I expected Gooch to tear it up but it just hasn't happened for him. We do have players who are better than where we are, but we are where we are because of times gone by. Think there's a few who will be able to step up too. But it's all ifs and buts to be fair and about opinions
Interested to hear who the 3 or 4 are? McGeady and...? Possibly McLaughlin, other than that I'm drawing a blank lol
Flanagan, Honeyman not available due to concussion protocols (and suspension). Watmore dodgy ankle due to bad tackle.. Maguire still out of course. Not quite bare bones... but not getting easier. Fixture congestion coming up also, lets hope we get e everyone fit!
Parker (a former poster on here who I now follow on twitter) put a calendar up for April - we have 9 games! Can;t figure out how we've got so many more than everyone else! (Have we?)
Not sure about other teams but atm we have one game to catch up, then there is the tinpot cup plus postponement cos on international call-ups. Does not make getting promoted easier imho
Just watched it. The fact he left the technical area, then you see him raise an arm at someone, could be a slap, although it could be a tap on the shoulder, would suggest to me that an appeal is pointless. They'll probably take a dim view on the fact that he left the technical area to cause the melee.
I’ll be surprised if it’s overturned, for all he did little, he instigated and that’s the offence in itself. May get it down from a 3 game ban but he will be banned I’d imagine.
Baldwin was booked for doing basically the same thing - just trying to get the ball back in play as Wycombe's time wasting was horrendous - Honeyman wanted to get the ball back in play and they were stopping him. I don't see any red card offence n there from either player who was sent off - no facial contact or anything. Farcical if anything and another example of a ref trying to prove he's bigger than the match. How those little pushes can be a straight red and the fould on Watmore a yellow is way beyond me. The Watmore foul was cynical, dirty, dangerous and from behind! Far worse than any of Max Power's red cards this season and far worse than anything that happened in the "melee"!
If they can find any reason to back the incompetent ref then they will do so I would be surprised if we won this one, but here goes
Regarding the Honeyman incident I dont disagree, but i think they will make an example of him due to the fact he left the technical area and lit the blue touch paper.
This is my thought, what they will say is he left our area and aggressively approached there’s. I mean he did. It went down as ‘serious foul play’ though didn’t it? Hence a 3 game ban? **** was it that.
Decent enough at League One level ad might improve but I wouldn't say he's "too good for this league", not sure I would be comfortable with him as a starter if we got promoted.
