Morning all. I thought it was a good end to end game with both teams wanting to attack.Barnsley looked a much better team than their league position suggested. In spite of Marcelo's perceived failings we are top of the league and deserve to be.Looking forward to thrashing Derby .
Eddie wasn't as effective when he started in our cup match v Stoke. I have no doubt Nketiah is a prolific goalscorer, a real fox in the box type striker Those tykes were big lads, we needed Bamford to wear them out & PB did that job admirably without any help from the officials as he was tugged & pulled about throughout the game
Phillips does lack that yard of pace but even our quicker defenders don't like forwards running at them. Not all defensive midfielders have lightening pace but adapt to the role through good positioning. Kalvin is still learning the DM role & is only going to get better on top of the significant improvement he has made under Beilsa's guidance. I'll stick with my initial prediction from last autumn Phillips will play for England, in fact I'm even more certain now
Costa for Harrison would be my only change right now even though the LB position is very vulnerable. Neither Douglas or Alioski are good defenders. Leif Davis is better than both but he has no chance due to his inexperience unless we acquire serious injury problems again
Oh I have noticed White in every game he has played, along with Dallas the best of our back four yesterday. I have no doubts of Ben's defending, a premiership CB in the making
Which begs the age-old question: 'was he off because he timed it wrong, or because the crosser was too slow'? No-one ever blames the crosser, but it's often the case (no idea on this occasion, btw!)
Davis is a good LB, but I have this feeling that Bielsa is moulding him into next season's Ben White. He only seems to get a game when we go 3 at the back.
I do t think Bamford was given offside, thought it was Alioskis through pass to Costa that was a shade offside?
