Barnsley v Leeds Utd Sunday 15th September 2019 12.30 | Oakwell Stadium Having recorded back to back losses in the League Cup against Stoke on penalties, and injury time misery versus Swansea City, Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping Leeds get back to winning ways on Sunday lunchtime, courtesy of a request from South Yorkshire Police. The Tykes are hovering just above the relegation zone in 21st place, and have not won sine the opening game of the season when they beat fellow promotion favourites Fulham. However, this is a local derby and anything is possible. Leeds have no new injury concerns. Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts have returned to full training. Roberts in particular impressed during the U23 goalless draw against Crystal Palace recently. Bielsa must decide whether to stick to the same starting XI that has propelled the Whites to third in the table or give Nketiah and Costa their first league starts of the season. Will Clarke be a part of the squad? Will Bielsa unleish Bamford and Nketiah, and if so, at who's expense? Can Alioski keep Douglas out?
I would like to see Costa and Eddy start but I can't see Bielsa making two changes and also a change to our style of play so although he might be tempted to drop one player and play Eddy and Bamford up front I can't see him bringing Costa in as well I don't feel Bielsa will feel playing away in a local derby is the right time for it either so I am expecting an unchanged team
-----------------------Casilla----------------------- Dallas--------White------Cooper--------Alioski ----------------------Phillips---------------------- Costa----------------Klich-------------Harrison -------------Nketiah-------Bamford------------- Subs Hernandez Berardi Meslier Douglas Davis Shackleton I'm going for attacking pace and balance. It's a 4-1-3-2 which changes to a 5-3-2 when defending.
I really can't see Bielsa changing his formation, El. More chance of him giving you a blow job. I can't see Forshaw being dropped. Him & Klich do a lot of the dirty work between them to get that ball to the wings for crosses. If Eddie plays alongside Bamford, only 1 will be up front - Bamford! Eddie would have to take to the wing to get in, like Roofe did last year, but I don't think he knows our system well enough yet to do so. I really wouldn't be surprised if we have an unchanged lineup. Depends what's happened on the training field, of course. It's great that we have this dilemma though, isn't it?
Evening all, Having recorded back to back losses in the League Cup against Stoke on penalties, and injury time misery versus Swansea City I am not superstitious, but anyone else notice when Shako goes teatotal we lose? Maybe we should crowdfund Shako's ale?
Like that lineup, but it's never going to happen. Bielsa will never drop Forshaw and change the system. He will most likely drop Klich if he is going to drop someone. But I have a feeling it's going to be a unchanged lineup.
He’s never going to drop Pablo either after a two week break. Knowing Bielsas reluctance to change a team playing well (understandably) I would expect the only “maybe” change would be to move Pablo central and start Costa at the expense of Klich or Forshaw I can’t see him playing two strikers away from home so I think it will be bench again for Eddy
This is a must win against a side that will put an extra 10% effort in against us, Bielsa has to be able to change formations and break teams down, something I haven’t really seen in the past, if we go behind we seem to struggle, imperative we get back to winning ways and put teams to the sword.
I want a convincing 0-3 result to wipe out the Swansea debacle, make no mistake this is a must win game if we are to get anywhere this season. Barnsley will be prepared to settle for a draw and no doubt will have studied the Leeds Swansea to see how to go bout it. Will be interesting to see how we get through another packed defence. P.S. I don't always get what I want.
Morning all. Barnsley has always been a tough fixture for Leeds.Being at home the onus will be on them to attack which should give Leeds space. You would imagine we will have the quality to win but it doesn't always work out that way. Barnsley 1 Leeds 3.
