Might go now. This was always going to be POTD, given the size of the away end. Of course, fans just have to be made to go through all the hoops, only for it to announced 10 mins after end of ticket sales that you can POTD. Proper club who still employ real turnstile staff and accept cash. The walk up spectators will cover the wages of any extra turnstile staff. I wonder if Barsley have a terrorism- resistant 'ring of steel' in place. Someone ring NECTU.
I was at that one. Crap game, but I think the weather was nice, and we never really expected Stoke to slip up anyway, so losing didn't matter too much.
It's the hope that kills ya! I'm sure that a lot of the horde we took expected Barnsley to just roll over for us, it never entered their minds that they were fighting for their lives to stay in the Division. 'We shouldn't be losing to the likes of .... (add any unfancied team you like)' is about as clever as the 'he's got no plan B' quip.
I was there and while I didn't expect an 'easy' game I thought our players bottled the occasion. We were paralyzed with nerves.
I think you're not far wrong, the early goal was the killer - our big following clammed up and I think we fans bottled it as much as the players.
It was nice falling over the line against Cardiff though - being helped by our lowly Wessie neighbours was nice too
i was there that day and yes that was also a kick in the balls. to travel that far as well made it even worse!
Best thing about that day was coming out of Portman Road and hearing that Watfud had got in front of Wolves to finish 6th...Wolves wouldn't have been as easy as Watfud in the play-off
Just looking back at the BBC "as it happened" and seeing that Stoke's point against Leicester meant that a win at Portman Road wouldn't have been enough. Southampton winning led to Leicester getting relegated to League 1. What a rollercoaster they've had since then!
yeah I do remember it would've been pointless I just meant how we failed to win anyway and put in a rubbish performance
Our players bottled it that day , nerves got the better of them . You could see it in their faces when they came out at five to three . Hopefully we will be better tomorrow .
