According to David Filtcroft,Barnsley assistant manager,we were dominated,controlled and we could not handle their shape or intensity,I only heard the match on the radio but that is a load of rubbish to what I heard from the commentary,I also know Delboy thought and said," We did the right things" and I prefer to believe HIM,if not it means all the hype about us is rubbish and we are still pretty feeble, our home performances also prove to me we are progressing.

Football managers are like politicians; they put a spin on whatever they say so that it sounds positive for their players and fans.
Rarely does a manager say "We got hammered but with a big slice of luck, we managed to cling on for an underserved win" That is what Flitcroft could have said.
In turn Mcinnes could have said "We hammered them but our finishing was pretty pathetic so we lost to yet another free header inside the six yard box".

People have been getting giddy over a cracking result v the Franchise and a win over a poor Palace a game that was over in minutes. I thought they only had a 15 minute spell before and after half time, we never had a goal scoring chance in the first half. If only Albert passed inside when Baldock made that run through instead of outside the defender.

I said at halftime Albert should come off along with Pearson, who I also thought was poor.

FairPlay to our fans we outsang the Barnsley fans untill the last 20 minutes until they woke up.

You have got to admit we were definetely not the team of the last two seasons, at least we tried instead of crumbled.

Thats why we bought Baldock and Davies, to give us the threat that we have been missing, especially away from home for SOOOOOOOO long. If the comments from those who went are fair, then I understand that at least a couple weren't at it yesterday and if this is the case, they are replaced, simple as that.

Frankly, it sounds like Albert STILL hasn't learned to look up and play his forwards in and in fact with 2 new dangerous strikers, this is EVEN MORE IMPORTANT - he apparently missed a prime chance to play Baldock in and if he can't understand what is required of him then lets see Anderson in the side who I am sure knows how to play as part of the TEAM

Albert needs to understand that he is NOT John Barnes. He can't continually try and dribble past the entire opposition team. Yes, he is exciting to watch when on form and last year, he offered most of our threat but this year, WE ARE A TEAM NOW so we attack as a team and defend as a team so either wise up or you will end up sat on the bench until you learn...

Barnsley had commitment for ninety minutes and City didn't, Barnsley had a bit of temp about them and made City look pedestrian. City only threatened against ten men,who dropped off deep and City put Davies and Taylor on to chuck the ball in for % football. I wouldn't coat off Adomah yesterday as City looked to be a poor team. It was not a couple who were not at it yesterday, it was four or five beyond the back four. McCinnes has a lot to think about going on that. Barnsley had ten out and had conceded heavily recently.

Positives, Davies looked class.

Can't believe some of the stuff I've read on other forums and to an extent in this thread.

After the first ten minutes which were very even if not slightly to Bristol we dominated the match and should've got 2 or 3, when we did get one after half time, we had controlled the match until the red card, and then we did what we had to do.

We sat back and probably did ride our luck, but we kept Bristol out, your side didn't seem to have much desire to win, either that or our players just had buckets full of it yesterday. We dominated it at 11 v 11, and at 11 v 10 we were good enough to keep you out, and that's why we deserved the 3 points.

Not being able to get to many Bristol City matches, I have to rely on the iplayer match commentary, and if I can't get the commentary, have a look at the respective managers comments, and the match report which usually puts a gloss on City's performances, and then comments from posters on not606. As in this particular post from wiz, Barnsley dominance, have come to the conclusion that everyone was watching a different match, which is obviously not the case.

My question is how can you get a totally objective take on the game, as even the so-called impartial reporters have their own pre-conceptions.

It comes to whatever take you have of the match, and I guess everyone's take is from a different perspective. Following the great displays v Crystal Palace and Cardiff, I fell in to the trap of a free-scoring Bristol City against a Barnsley side, everyone's favourite for relagation and whose playing options depleted by injuries, and having conceeded 8 goals in their last two matches.....the result appeared a foregone conclusion. 1-4 or similar to City.

I guess it is the unpredictabilty of football, especially it seems in the Championship, which makes it so fascinating.

But a 1-0 defeat to Barnsley, certainly casts a shadow over the weekend.

This is the Championship, and everyone can beat everyone else.
Nothing has changed in that respect for the last 5 years.
The team which wins it will have an unbeaten run from about December, and the play-off teams from February.
That gives us as good a chance as any, but McDel will still need to perform miracles to put such a run together.

Its like those old toy steam engines they used to have.
You have to build the pressure and keep it at critical for the thing to go anywhere, and for Del its the same.

It was feeble at times. Players unable to move the ball from A - B with any speed. Poor ball retention. Inefficient service to the front two. Seen this before.

This is now McCinnes team, lets see what sort of reaction there is next home game and after to see if the team is progressing.

Last time we lost away we scored 4 in the next game so it shows we can respond, but we are playing one of if not the best team in the league next so a draw will be brilliant

Two days ago you'd think we were Barcelona from the comments on here. I'm quite glad that some of you have come back down to where most of the rational fans seem to be.

We're still Bristol City, the team that Sky, the BBC and countless others are tipping for relegation this season. However, this time we've strengthened everywhere apart from central midfield and at centre back. We've allowed a manager to come in and build his team and we need to be patient and allow McInnes to work from the bottom to the top.

We annihilated Franchise FC, but were defeated by a switched-on Barnsley. We're still a team that people will associate with relegation regardless of our results so we need to pick ourselves up and target a set number of wins to keep us in the league and building towards being competitive. We have a load of new faces and we still require a few more without becoming as heavy as we were before. Another thirteen wins this season and I'd say we're safe, and if we can dismantle the sellouts at home like we did then there's no cause for concern.

Hopefully McInnes is delaying a similar message that two defeats don't end a season.

Exactly and that's why I can't believe Bristol City fans who wern't there are questioning our dominance and saying they deserved a point, Marlon Harewood had 2 or 3 chances in the last 10 minutes which he should've done better with.

Listened to 2 mates who went, interviews from both 'camps' and seen the extended highlights on Player.
When they had 11 they were much the better team, it was only went they went down to 10 did we get on top.
Their goal and best chance - both times Carey was beaten in the air.
Carey does well and he's superb for his size but he's best, like Fontaine alongside a 'Shaun Taylor'.
How much longer have we got to wait for a CH.
As for a penalty - I'm not at all surprised the ref didn't give it.
Anyway, how did Woolford manage to head the ball, with the keeper beaten, straight at their player from inside the 6yard box.

All in all - Typical City performance away from home.
