A very pleasing start to the Hurst era at home. Barnet were a bit one-dimensional but we coped with the long throw-ins and corners (I liked the moving of the hoardings to needle them) and our movement up front always troubled them. AJLS was the Man of the Match for me - it was nice to see him and Toney linking up well for the first goal. There will be much sterner tests to come but the players will benefit from playing a more simple system and concentrating on cutting out individual errors.

It seems the moving if the hoardings was to limit the effectiveness of their long throw specialist.

A good result for Town and great to see that Toney got an assist, AJLS scored and both sadler and grimmer took their goals well.

Southport vs Fleetwood last night was a very dull affair though it was nice to see five ex-town players starting (Neal, Grant, Ryan, Ashton and Caton) and a chipper-looking MM providing some insight. With a home draw we have a decent chance of progressing to Round 3.
