Know absolutely no facts but willing to speculate with the best of them. If Barney hurt his hand so badly, my guess would be he hit the bloke and happened to have a bottle in his hand, rather than smashed the bottle then shoved it in the other mans face. There's a difference between drunken stupidity and deliberate intent. If he deliberately glassed the man, that's intention to seriously injure him which should be soundly punished. NC can't prejudge the case and is waiting like the rest of us.

It's worth bearing in mind that he's been charged with ABH and not GBH, if it was deliberate glassing then you would assume that they would have pushed for GBH. ABH as a first offence doesn't always carry a prison sentence, just lots of hrs community service. We'll see over the Summer.....

Whoa Guys lets not get carried away. Firstly yes we are a family club and as such players and their actions are accountable to the club and the fans. However he has been charged with ABH. We do not accurately know what happened. All we know is speculation and rumour. However if he is found guilty he will be sentenced and if he has been sent down he will serve his sentence. Saints in the meantime have his registration and will keep it. Under normal professional contract terms he will not be paid while he is in clink. However on his release it will be up to the club whether he is released or whether is is retained. Just remember his contract is most likely up by then any way, but Saints retain his registration. If this is the events that actually happen he will have served his time justice will have been done and will have been seen to be done. So why would you not want to keep him. Is that not also a good thing for youngsters to see..IE a bad one come good. Is that not a good example. Just as Joey Barton did.........

I know a lot of people that were charged with ABH that did not end up in prison. It does not always follow as a automatic prison sentence. I can only think that he has asked for trial by jury. I just hope he has a good brief if that is the case. It is a bit of a gamble however the man may just be innocent and he wants to prove it via a jury. Its his right after all..........
