Anybody know? Has he apologized for the first incident?

There's a difference between reinstatement and being welcomed back into Paolo's plans. If he still has no future here, and he knows it. Then to me, this apology is nothing more then to get his treatment and rehabilitation paid for by the club. If he's apologised for the first incident too then I expect Paolo to stick to his word and give him the chance to show he's changed his attitude. Remorse for the first incident is an important factor on where he's going to stand in relation to his role at the club.

It's only an apology from Bardsley. Who said PDC has forgiven him? He will be out ASAP.

I'm sure he was suspended with pay. We'd have been opening a can of worms if we didn't. Besides, if he wasn't being paid he wouldn't be saying sorry. I think he'd be fighting the club for cutting his pay before a completed investigation. But he was banned from sol and aol so won't have been getting treatment for his injury.

Cant find original link but this was the text from it

Phil Bardsley has been banned indefinitely by Paolo Di Canio at Sunderland after mocking the opening day defeat against Fulham.

The Daily Mirror says Fulham are interested in the former Manchester United man, but would prefer a deal in January.

Sky understand Bardsley and his agent will meet with the club today.

    5. Suspension from work
When a disciplinary issue is being looked into you might be suspended from work. This doesn’t happen very often. If it does it should normally be with pay and you should be told why you’re being suspended.

    Employment contracts
You can be suspended without pay if your employment contract says your employer can do this, but they must be acting reasonably.

If your employment contract doesn’t say your employer can do this, your employer may still be able to suspend you, but with pay
. To show that it’s not a punishment the suspension will normally be on full pay.

    Employment rights when suspended
You keep your employment rights while suspended. If you don’t get the right pay you may be able to make a claim to an employment tribunal for ‘unlawful deduction from wages’.

Talking to other employees, customers and/or suppliers
If you’re suspended, you might be told not to talk to other employees, customers and/or suppliers. If this means you can’t defend yourself properly at a disciplinary hearing, you could make an appeal.

But if you’ve been asked not to talk and you do, your employer might decide to take further disciplinary action against you.

Well that clears it up. <whistle>

Anybody got a copy of Bardo's contract?

Clubs can't suspend players without pay..I believe the maximum they can be find for breaches of club rules is two weeks wages..
For me an apology is an apology, and he should be given the opportunity to redeem himself..

All morality to one side, the incident in the casino was badly handled by him and PDC. Just wish they had sorted it out in the dressing room rather than giving the press more info than was needed.

    Nope.
He's had two weeks to say sorry. Strange how he did it only after the window was shut...Crocodile tears.

The very well paid Bardsley laughed in the face of 40k plus ordinary folk who scrimp and scrape to get to follow their hero's, not once but twice. He only says sorry when he's forced to stay...Let the ****er rot.

Exactly. I would guess most of us have ****ed up & said stuff out of turn at sometime in our lives.
On what grounds is it gross misconduct?
Sorry marra but you're talking total bollocks.
Gross misconduct is stuff like theft, violence in the workplace, etc.
The PFA is his trade union & they'd tear the club to shreds man.

I'm fully behind Poalo but I wish he'd keep his ****ing trap shut & keep discipline behind closed doors.
How would you like it if your gaffer balled you out in front of the rest of the shop floor?
    Derided I expect.

The way some are talking on here they are like Jesus & Bardo is like some kind of Hitler.
    ****ing graa up man.

It wasn't even PDC who made this public Billy..In fact, I haven't heard him make any comments what so ever about Bardsley.
I agree it's not gross misconduct though..It's nothing more than complete contempt for those that pay your wages..So that's ok then.

Yes & I agree with you CM but the gaffer has publicly slagged off certain players, he needs to learn to deal with it behind closed doors.
And if you read back through my posts you will see that I said that Bardo was an idiot to do what he did.
Hardly warrants capital punishment though does it?
