To be fair, ASM has a right to feel a bit disgruntled looking at that.

On less than Gayle was, hardly any more than Hendrick, the same as Jamal Lewis and not far off just half of what Shelvey is on. And less than half of what Chris Wood earns.

The guy virtually carried the team before the takeover.

I think ASM and Wilson both have a solid case for a pay rise, looking at some of the names above them.

Per week in the first column and annually in the second.

Caveat it is in euros but that doesn’t make much difference now.

It's just crazy. Regardless of what happens with our club in the future, the money in football now is just obscene. Who can genuinely be worth that kind of money just for playing football? Especially when you look at how many prople are living in poverty. It's ludicrous.

It is, but I suppose it's how much value you bring to the club. They're a business and maybe you'll bring them that much success.

If the money wasn't going to the player, it would just be kept by the owners/club itself unfortunately.

I think it should be more of a case of taxing people that rich more

I bet it was Roly who unchecked Chris Wood's salary in that list. Refusing to pay him.<laugh>

How recent is the article you read? I had heard that PIF were seriously considering building their own airline but Covid had altered their thinking and instead they were considering investing in Saudia to become a bigger player. Of course what I was told could be complete tosh and it was a good 6 months ago now.

To put it into context. They are set to earn 700m (dodgy) euros and Mbappe will get 90m of it.

Those PSG figures are wild! 3 players on over £1m PER WEEK? So just between those 3 your looking at £200million a year in wages alone? For three players? In the French League?

There is no way that's possible to do with out some ridiculous sponsorship deals and if our guys are having to argue the toss about new deals you just point straight there to PSG - no CL's, playing in a farmers league and can bring in £700m in sponsorship? There is no way we could have any deal turned down if that is what you are comparing it to. I would think Nick De Marco is already writing up a letter to The FA basically telling them and the EPL we'll have our sponsorship deals and there's nowt they can do legally to stop us looking at those figures and for other teams backed by these states around Europe...

I’ve been saying it for a while on these forums.

The commercial deals are integral to our growth.

But it’s the premier league who have been sanctioned by the dirty six to BLOCK our deals meaning they can review and stop them.

It’s illegal and a restriction on trade.

Our commercial deals will come because our new operational staff signings will make it happen.

It's hilarious how the Barca fans keep blaming all their financial problems on the previous president Bartomue for paying out crazy salaries when half of the highest earners on that list are recent signings made by their new presidential "savior" Laporta after he sold off a percentage of future TV rights revenue to American investment bankers<doh>

I think that Barca must be starting to sweat. Even if they pay De Jong his owed €17m, what if he still won't go and the club can't get their wage bill down so can't play their new signings?

2nd best outcome would be that Chelsea hijack the De Jong deal so he can play AGAINST Man U. I'd enjoy that almost as much as Barca going to the dogs.

Barca need to go to the dogs for the sake of the game. They have been far too protected for far too long from the government and La Liga.

I get they are the biggest club on the planet etc, but they simply can't compete financially but rather than accept this, they have helped in driving prices and wages up to ridiculous proportions, tried to create a European Super League for their own benefit and continue to believe they are the club that will sign anyone they want.

They should be given a transfer embargo until they can get their house in order within the rules of the game.

Totally agree. They have been able to manipulate FFP for a long time.

Them and PSG have taken the piss.

Man City may have pumped millions but they are not pushing salaries to far extremes. I think their highest salary is around 350k or something.

    Ahem.

Would just be great if other clubs just collectively agreed not to sign any Barcelona players. Make them suffer.
