All those that read this column know who I would like shipped out. I dont think Jol will ship out BZ,but i can see Dempsey,or Hangaland going,if not both, we will then be in deep s..t. My suggestion (but of course I have no say), something which I have said in the past. We transfer AJ to Crystal Palace, who they idolise, give them 2mil, pay Aj wages for a whole season, and take in return Wilfred Saha
valjing - what makes you think Jol would ship out Dempsey and Hangeland? Are we hurting for money? The only circumstances under which I could foresee Fulham losing any critical players is A) Fulham get a ridiculously-high offer Jol can't pass up (like 20million for Hangeland) the loss of Smalling fits this description. B) Fulham underachieves to such a level that Hangeland and/or Dempsey come to see the teams an hinderance, rather than a way, to see their own personal ambitions being met. For instance, if Fulham were to end up wallowing in the relegation scrap all year long, I suspect some of our best players would start looking around for a way out. This is the reason, I suspect, that we lost Boa Morte and Malbranque a few years ago.
I can't see Hangeland leaving any time soon. I could see us Dempsey attracting interest and us getting an offer that the board accepted. Am I right in thinking Dempsey's contract expires at the end of next season? If so, a sale in January or the summer is plausible. I wouldn't want to see him go, but depending on how Kasami and Frei kick on in the next few months is might - might - not be the disaster it would have been twelve months ago.
As long as Fulham stay competitive, I don't see Dempsey leaving. If a smaller, struggling team came knocking in January, I'm sure Dempsey could nix the deal and stay here. None of the big four teams (ManU, ManC, Chelsea and Liverpool) would want him except as cover. Tottenham and Arsenal might benefit from his services, but beyond those two teams, any move away from Fulham would be a lateral or downward. Thus I can't see it. Now, outside the EPL, that's a different matter. He's been linked with mid-size Italian and Spanish clubs for the last couple of years.
