A man has has allegedly driven a van into pedestrians on Las Ramblas/ Plaza Catalunya. He has fled the scene on foot.

Now been declared a terrorist attack by police. 2 people dead and many injured. Two armed men have entered a restaurant. This maybe a separate incident.

I may be a bit naive here, but why Barcelona? I can understand why these arseholes carry out such atrocities against the UK, Germany, France, USA etc, but do Spain have an active role in operations against ISIS, or is it just another soft target for these cowards to lash out against?

People out enjoying themselves and women walking around without sacks over their heads.

Edit: Of course, I've jumped to the conclusion that it's an Islamic terrorist attack, which it may turn out not to be.

Just seen a few videos of the aftermath, loads of young woman and children seriously injured or dead. I've heard that the van drove for at least 1/2 kilometre ploughing into people.

Yeah, white supremists have now cottoned on to the idea that a vehicle makes a big weapon too, so could be the KKK (very much doubt it though).

In all seriousness though, who in their right mind wants to carry out these cowardly acts - total ****s. Death is too good for them, they should be publicly flogged and skinned alive prior to an excruciatingly painful long death.

Isn't skinned alive the same as an excruciatingly painful long death?
 
I don't think it could be this (I certainly hope not) but there is a lot of local unrest about tourists in Barcelona at the moment, coaches stoned etc. The Ramblas is almost exclusively a tourist zone, the locals, except the ones who work there, stay away.
 
Jesus I have just seen a graphic news video. It was all woman and children. what @@@@'s, how they can call themselves human is beyond me.
