oh now that is a funny one Shinty Is that why the scottish team in the shinty/hurling compromise rules series gets creamed every time?
creamed? that's why scotland are 4-3 ahead on series' won. and only the haggis chasers play it up north. that's got to hurt for a country that play the game infront of 50,000+ crowds
The games are generally pretty close. The compromised rules favour shinty heavily. Especially the scoring. I don't know who Scotland pick to represent them but certainly the Irish team generally only pick one good player. The rest are made up from players from the weaker counties. if Ireland decided to pick the best players, the game would be utterly pointless as ireland would smash the living daylights out of scotland. As it is, I think the level of player they get is just about right. It is nice for the rest of the Irish team to get to say they played alongside an all-star and it is nice that the games are at least competitive.
As I said, the level of players the Irish team pick, only one of them would play in front of a crowd that big on a regular basis. The lads we chose might play to a crowd less than the shinty boys.
This was voted the second best goal of all time recently (he also set up the number one goal). This is the kind of skill that hurlers just don't have any more.
Aah Rebel Boy, I like you. I don't like your name, it implies challenge to authority. But I like your fundamental religious principles, you are obviously a God-fearing man like myself
Vlad the impaler murdered clergymen. i am not sure he....you were that God fearing if you would do that.
Clergymen that have displeased me and hence God. As Prince and ruler of Wallachia, I am ordained by divinity. God tells me who to smite, and I make sure they are smoten.
Seen, what i consider better, in the modern age. Admittedly it was a Corcaigh player. Keeper pucked it out to the oppositions 50 right on the side line to his half forward, who managed to ( in one quick move ) stop the ball and leave it almost in midair and turn 180 to thump it straight over the black spot.2 touch hurling! Il try and find a name and vid. Would love An Dun to be competitive at hurling.
Down aren't so bad. At least they are keeping the flag flying anyway. Sword will know the goal. I can't think of it, unless it was Joe Deane from 04?
You mean we have Paul Braniff flying the flag. It wasnt a goal, it was a point but it was so slick in it execution i was really taken aback.
im open to being proved wrong but i dont think it was joe but i have a feeling it was ben o connor as i said im here to be shot down :-(
No no, on conversing with my bro he has informed me the team was Loch Garman. Still no name for the player. Will keep on it
