Can't afford it, don't get it. It makes you actually want to manage your money better instead of still wanting **** for free.

It's very rare that a new album comes out which I actually want. Last one I bought was Diamond Eyes by Deftones, and I bought the hard copy. My music library is a monument to the amount of music I bought in my teenage years. Every bit of money I earnt would go towards a new album or a new Playstation game. Now that I can afford to buy new music at will, nothing is coming out that I want!

I have used torrents to download music which I have already bought once and subsequently lost. I also use them to watch TV shows I can't watch on TV. Been watching Game of Thrones on TV since it became available on Sky Atlantic.

Apart from it being "morally wrong", I don't see an issue of downloading free music.

I don't get it myself. I work hard to be able to buy the stuff I want.

Also that it's legally wrong. If something is legally and morally wrong then there's probably an issue involved.

Well so do I, but I'm on minimum wage, if there's stuff I want that I can get for free I will do that.

But that goes back to the point I made to Olly. Get really good and practised at shoplifting, then you can get food and clothes for free. And that's okay?

Only thing I stream is a few Saints games I can't make or that aren't on BT and Sky. So streaming is the only way I can watch it.

You can't really try to be moral. I watch a thing that you couldn't watch in the UK otherwise, if you could I would pay. You steal music that is easily obtainable if you are willing to pay a little.

more like why pay for someone to get someone in a third world country to assemble clothes, have them shipped back to the UK and sold at retail for another profit margin when you could assemble a copy for yourself with your own skills and raw materials.

we don't do it because we don't have the skill to make it economically viable.
copying data requires nothing more than a little processing power and wear on your mechanical disk.

what you're notionally depriving the manufacturer of there, is the proceeds of their investment/talent in R&D effort to get to the manufacturing stage and the marketing costs to get people interested in the product. artists can claim the same. the designers of clothes will claim the same.

I don't understand your point? Pirating music is okay because I'm not skilled enough to make my own clothes?

I didn't say pirating music is okay. i'm saying there's a difference in that you've not stolen the manufactured item from someone. you've refused to buy the manufactured item because you can simply reproduce it and the vendor still has the manufactured clothes to sell.

Sure, but in a direct response to "why pay for something you can get for free", the "why not shoplift" argument is valid because you can technically get that for free.

    Woah there.......

I get what you're saying, but you don't think people down the supply chain in music are impacted by people pirating music? How much do you think I earn trying to launch an artist. I'll give you a clue - it starts with 0.
