It looks really bad for you at the moment. Over half of your summer budget so far has been spent on 2x left backs and the rest on a central midfielder that apparently hasn't convinced as of yet in the games he's played (early days though). Even if Van Gaal is as good as the media are making him out to be it looks like it'll be a struggle to get a team with such glaring weaknesses into the top 4 this season at least unless you make a few big signings before the window closes.
I am nothing if not constant in my grumpiness. As for defining if any of out teams will be good, bad or indifferent will not be known until we are at least 8 or 9 games in. Funny, we have players but can't see how we are going to play. You have few players and can't see who you are going to play. Life's just so confusing!! But it looks like your left in the last minute/high price section of the window. If you do buy and they come good then LVG is a genius. But if they don't then we may be seeing a replay of the Moyes fiasco.
Problem I see with LVG is, who the hell wants to go and play for a strict whip cracking manager that can't offer ANY European football, never mind CL? The only players you can attract is mercenaries
One left back, one centre half and one midfielder I think the media are going off his career record and what is generally accepted in the football world rather than "making him out to be"
The whole "last minute thing" is really pissing me off. There has been ample time since the world cup (convenient excuse) to buy intended targets yet anybody we get now will feel like a panic buy, even Di Maria since he dosen`t fit a 3-5-2 formation (never a wing back).
I know where you are coming from here Greez, Fergie was a really mild bloke what never raised his voice If a player rates himself he should see it as a challenge to get the team into Europe, much the same as the cannibal did
Believe it or not I really feel for you as a supporter. There was ample time before, during and after the world cup.
Took three pops at the one Fergie was controlling a successful team so players wanted to join to win things. LVG can't offer that
Not convinced by Rojo at centre half, looked much more comfortable at left back for Argentina. He should be a bit more comfortable in a back 3 as Van Gaal seems to want to play but he won't make a centre half as part of a back 4 from what I've seen. And Van Gaal's reputation and ability has definitely been over-exaggerated by the media simply because he's flavour of the month after the world cup.
Your talking about 2 very different cultural identities. City are now very definitely ensconced in the Money Rules camp with Chelsea, PSG, Real. Nobody expects them to build a club spirit. Clubs like United and Liverpool have spent many years nurturing their reputations as the home of the relationship between the players and the fans. The cultures are almost diametrically opposed.
I do believe you Dave, i have the feeling you are a footbal supporter first and a rival second in serious mode
He is a centre half, trust me on this Not being funny in any way but how old are you? Van Gaal has been noted as a top manager for the last 15-20 years. The recent world cup did not enhance his reputation as he was missing players that stopped him playing the way he wanted.
I have moderate success with mild wumming but if someone puts up a good argument i usually end up agreeing with them (if they are right), the Arsenal crowd are too easy though and just beg for it
