Lots of speculation about goings on behind the scenes. Safe to say this announcement couldn't have come at a worse time. It hasn't been planned either by the looks of things. Sad times at this football club. Who knows what is around the corner. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Said he went to get his car serviced in Newcastle the following week and there was deathly silence till he said “come on lads, mine was the closest you got to scoring all game!!” Love the bloke.

Legend is an overused term but not in this case. He came the length of the country and committed to everything about us. He was such a leader, everyone followed him. He is the epitome of captain. He used to make some of the so called hard men in the opposition team bottle it. Imagine him in this team now, just for leadership qualities.

He is exactly what we need in the team now. The younger version obviously.

He should have been the one who stood in when johnson went rather that put a youth team coach in, although i dont mean that disrespectful to Dodd

Its no use hanging onto old distant memories, it is success we want. It one of the reasons we have never progressed as a club, certainly in my lifetime, when we should have been ruthless we gave jobs to the boys. IMO

'... 'Bally', was furloughed from his ambassadorial role in 2019 when the Covid pandemic struck'

****e reporting, the pandemic struck in 2020, with furloughing only starting in late March. How the hell can he get that wrong - the biggest story in decades?!

Obviously more to this than meets the eye, there’s a real stench hanging around us at the minute . The clubs crying out for a Quinn type figurehead and the one bloke who was probably ideal for the job leaves the club. I’ve got more respect for Bally than anyone else who’s had anything to do with the club, damm shame.

A nice story - when I had cancer a mate (actually a mag) approached Kevin Ball who he knew. I got a hand written letter and a shirt saying keep fighting and keep the faith. At the time I felt like a million dollars.

This might come as a shock to you, but Kevin Ball has done more for SAFC than Me, You or any other Fan.
The 'jobs for the boys' you mention includes spell as Caretaker Manager, time with the kids at the Academy and most profitably to SAFC, special resposibilty for monitoring and supporting players out on loan.

Bearing in mind what Jordan Henderson and Jordan Pickford have said about the value THEY place on Kevin Ball and his contribution to their careers, I consider whatever he has got out of the Club in monetary terms is likely to be small change when compared to what he has put in.

In passing I would mention that MOST Fans expect loyalty from the players to our Club.
Personal I feel this should be a two way thing.
And as for hanging onto 'distant memories', until I read your post I assumed that all Fans did this.
Certainly, I would not be without mine.

I THINK though that the vast majority of ALL fans are more like me.

Cracking post mate and i expect it echoes what a lot of fans are thinking. Certainly I do.

Bally was someone who made the most of his talent and lets not forget hes not from the area and I think loves the club as much as those born here. I do also think he's been criminally underused recently.

Also has THE hardest hand shake of anyone Ive ever met. Nearly crushed me bloody fingers!!
