And Steven Taylor, Williamson isn't even League 1 standard. I don't like picking out scapegoats but he has cost us many many points this season.
On the subject of Ba I feel he was a contributor to our poor form. He threw a fit over Cisse's central role last season because that was his spot. He wasn't prepared to work in a system where he played on the right that was so effective. Cisse doesn't make a good winger and bless him, though he tried, cannot defend either. He is most effective when playing up the middle. Now with Ba gone I hope to see a good percentage of his goals replaced by Cisse and Padres will now play two out and out wingers to help.

^ To be fair to Ba, im a striker and my team play me out on the wing and i hate it. Without being big headed im by far the best striker but have to play on the wing for the team and absolutely hate it. I can see why he is frustrated, anyone out of position has the right to be frustrated.

    Padres <laugh>

    Damn autocorrect. I meant Pardew.

Surely though, in professional football, it is the perogative of the player to play in the position he is assigned that works best for the team and club that pays him. Surely he should be taking happiness from the fact the system results in goals and helps the team. He seems on concerned that the system resulted in his goals. For that reason, while I am concerned as to how we will replace his goals, I am not overly sad to see such an ego centric person leave the team.

On the money players are on they should do as their asked and like it. The player might not agree, but it's the manager's choice. The manager lives and dies by his decisions.

^ which is true, but its only natural to be frsutarted. You cant help feeling frustrated, its not an emotion that you choose.

So would i. I think your missing my point. Id play where i was asked and give my all. BUT if i was being played out of position, i would be frustrated. You dont choose to be frustrated, its an emotion. If you dont feel frustrated at being played out of position youcould argue you dont care enough.

Id give my all and play whereever asked, but if it was out of position id probably want to leave to play in my prefered position elsewhere.

messi won? Really can't believe that I was sure it was going to be Barry hayles or Junior Lewis.

Do we think messi is one of the best players of the last 10 years? 20? 30 maybe?

Personally I won't hold him in the same regard as Zidane or Ronaldo yet. maybe even one or two others. Untill messi shows more with Argentina or with another club team I will not accept he is up there with the best ever.

I hold him above ronaldo and Zidane. Hard to compare different types of players but what he can do with a ball is phenominal, he has everything.

Why should he not be held above Ronaldo or Zidane. Both those players had the generation in their national team right for the time. Argentina look as disjointed as ever, the politics behind the national team is as shambolic as ever, they are lacking a capable coach etc. But Messi still does perform, regardless of what the old cliches may suggest. 14 goals in 9 games last year is performing and his hat trick against Brazil was a thing of beauty.
Another cliche is that the 86 Argentina side were a talentless ragtag bunch whom Maradona single handedly guided to World Cup glory. Make no mistake that was a fiercely capable team. Maradona player of tournament no doubt but even he couldn't drag the current Argentina squad above the current Spain and Germany teams. There are too many mitigating factors involved in competing in a world cup never mind winning one to make it a benchmark of being an all time great.
If Argentina get the right coach, someone who uses the wealth of attacking talent available to Argentina to help Messi and free him from the deeper playing role he adopts in the national side, they could seriously be pulling up trees at the next world cup, and what better place to do it than in their rivals back yard. :D

    I can't wait

The current Argentina side is a bloody good one.

They have had some amazing players recently and whilst I am not going to say that the 86 team was rubbish I'm simply saying I don't believe that Argentina currently have a lack of talent which is preventing them winning anything

Maybe the Brazilian and French teams where better and maybe the argies are a little unlucky also that Spain are now so dominant but I still think messi shouldn't be held up abovethe likes of players who have moved to different clubs and succeeded and also won international competitions also.

Don't get me wrong messi's talent is undeniable but he hasn't won anything with he's international team (Olympics don't count) and he has only ever played in the same league all his life

Messi might be the worlds best, but over half of the world team of the year are spanish and there is not a single other argentine in there, which shows you perhaps why.

Pity they have had no decent managers since Marcelo Bielsa - just spineless ones that are afraid to make tough decisions.
