11 of Hearts is trademarked. His celebration is a reference to his trademark. I was taking the piss. I mentioned advertising in the OP, so the only "moving on" was to also take the piss out of Wales. And I pointed out that no other player uses their celebrations to directly promote their own branding. You get the trademark before you start selling the products, not afterwards. No I didn't. I gave my opinion that every time he does it (for at least the last season) he is thinking of his branding. He might well have first done it for his family. Those stats were posted this morning by the BBC so an existing thread about Bale being a twat seemed the natural fit for them.
11 of Hearts is a logo, not a celebration that has been trademarked as you claimed in the OP. You did move on from the initial post to focus on the advertising and cited Bendtner's fine, which had no relevence as it involved UEFA rules that only apply during competition. You also expressed dismay that he should do something on the pitch which he would profit from, I explained that he doesn't have anything on sale and that all players directly profit from advertising on the pitch. If you want to draw a line at a celebration then that's up to you but as you well know, I totally disagree that he is advertising and it doesn't stand up to any scrutiny. I know how trademarks work and I'm not disputing that he will likely launch a clothing brand with that logo. I fail to see how that means he's currently using his celebration to promote a brand that hasn't even launched and that no one would even know about if it wasn't for the press picking up the story and pretending that he's trademarked his celebration. If he'd never done it before then you'd have a point but he's not trying to sell or promote anything and if he was he's doing a very bad job at it because he's making no connection between his celebration and the brand. On what do you base your opinion that in the last year he has started to use the celebration to promote his brand? Do you think he would have stopped doing the celebration if it weren't for his brand logo being trademarked? No. Has he been talking about the brand? No. There is no direct link from his celebration to his brand, the brand has a link to his celebration, it's a significant difference and I think everyone knows that. Out of interest, when you see Usain Bolt do his celebration at the end of a race, do you think "that twat, he's only bloody promoting Virgin Media again" because he uses that celebration in the Virgin ads too, or do you think like the rest of us "oh look Bolt's doing his signature celebration that he does after every race win"? Anyway, reply if you want, I'll read it but won't reply as I think we're boring enough other Liverpool fans with this discussion continuing
Lol more nonsense, I stopped reading when you completely misrepresented my position with "You also expressed dismay that he should do something on the pitch which he would profit from". He is a twat because the value of his celebration to his bank balance is more important than the value of the goal to the team.
That's ENTIRELY my point. You've just picked a completely flawed stat to back up a point you were trying to make. All I was doing was pointing out how the stat was flawed.
bale doesn't care as long as you keep talking his bank balance gets bigger... it's like this miley "not even with a paper bag over her head" cyrus and her antics nobody cares.... expect those who get wound up over it.
I don't know if Bale is the biggest twat ever... but he does have the biggest freak nips of a footballer ever.
