We are lead to believe by the media rumour factory that Gareth Bale will be leaving Real Madrid this summer and returning to the PL. This is the kind of story the media love and they have never stopped propagating their fiction since he joined Spurs from Southampton. At one time he was useless, an injury liability, and a jonah so the stories do not always bear the hallmark of truth.

However we all know that these stories can become self fulfilling prophecies and this time with Real Madrid in a bit of a dip in form there just might be more credibility to a Bale move.

Assuming the unlikely possibility that Spurs would/could meet his wage demands would you want him back?

A number of questions arise.

Did we build in a return clause to the deal with Madrid? A first refusal.

Is he a bit of an injury liability anyway?

Would he fit the team or would he disrupt the balance?

Simply do you want him back?

Can't put a poll on the transfer thread, anyway I thought it was worthy of it's own thread there are more issues to this than just will we be signing a player.

I'd love, love, love to see him again. Was responsible for some of the most exhilarating moments I have seen on a football field. However I don't see how the fee/salary aspect could work. In pure football terms, it would be a dream.

I've said it's very unlikely because of money issues but it is just possible that Bale himself (who now hardly needs more money) may decide there are other issues that appeal to him. A triumphant return to a very good Spurs team in a brand new stadium does have an appeal. He does have the luxury of having proved himself at the highest level making an emotional decision. Perhaps he will rescue Swansea.
Just suspending my judgement for the sake of the argument. At least one person thinks he would unbalance our present team for example.

I’d dispute that. He’s capable of playing almost anywhere. Left, right, or through the middle.

He’s the sort of player that terrifies and is capable of unlocking packed defenses. He just makes things happen in a way that very few other players in the world can do.

Would he, or others for that matter, be happy being rotated? He could be happy with a standard wage of £80,000 or something then a hefty appearance fee which would be justified given his injury record. If you don't ask, you don't get so wouldn't be amiss to the club putting some feelers out on this.

If a PL club comes in for Bale, I can definitely see Levy
trying to :

1. drive up both the transfer/wage fees for the buyer

2. delay the sale for as long as possible, if it means
Madrid are dependent on that money to acquire their latest
pacifier for their fickles.

Given the pacifier appears to be Salah (which I'm sure will lead to more Saltypool supporters gobbing on teenage girls...) we wouldn't want Los Ladrones to get peed off and look elsewhere.

Of course there's the other variable, namely Bayern making James Rodriguez's loan permanent - but as he's on loan until the end of next season there's little reason for Bayern to cough up just yet.

If, as an act of contrition for his poor behaviour leading up to his departure, he accepts pay of £70-100K per week I see no problem but Levy will have to be on his best form to get the fee down to an affordable level . We cannot afford to disrupt the team by paying him more than Kane and the others

Wages MIGHT be achievable, but as I said
I doubt Levy will accept the Madrid offloading
transfer fee.

Anyway, all moot as our DOS will never accept
Bale back with that hair bun + shoddy beard.
