So it's different when Madrid buy your players, then? Why would that be?

It's also terrible of us to consider selling a player so that he can actually be close to his family, isn't it?
Given the recent incestuous behaviour by a certain Old Trafford legend, every player should stay as far away from family members as possible, eh?

Ronaldo wanted the move. He choose to move to Spain. And Real paid the princely sum of £80M for him to do so.. If it was about winning honours, he would have been better off staying put, no question.

But the considerations are different for Bale. If he's happy at Spurs, fine. But if he's ambitious to win trophies, his better option is to move elsewhere.

Really? I didn't know people actually scraped that far down the barrel anymore.

Certain Old Trafford Legend has more medals in his 22 year career than your club has trophies since...ever.

If you make Dempsey the first sub in the fluid front four, you may be keeping his goals, which tend to come from work rate against tired defenses. Rotate him into start fairly often, and I think he and everyone else should be happy.

Hardacre is clearly one of those people who think there should only be 5 or 6 clubs allowed to win anything and should be mocked instead of debated with

Mahmoud I don't think that...who would be these other 4 or 5 clubs allowed to win anything?

I actually like Spurs, I'd prefer to be challenging Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal for the title than two giant credit cards.

Gareth Bale makes Garth Crooks' Team of the Week...

MIDFIELD - GARETH BALE (Tottenham)

Once Gareth Bale got the ball under control, Newcastle's Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul had no chance.

That said he could have scored five.

It took two tremendous saves from Newcastle keeper Krul to deny Bale at least a hat-trick.

The Welsh wizard is looking Messi-like.

At the moment he unplayable.

In this form Real Madrid and Barcelona are certain to come in at some stage.

Did you know?

Bale attempted more shots (seven) than any other player this weekend and has now scored 10 goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances.

To keep player's like Gareth,we need the new Stadium asap,to be able to compete wages wise with the European clubs

The original proposed completion date for the stadium was the beginning of next season <doh> So frustrating and we don't even get any news on it these days.

He plays on the left

Whoops no he doesn't, never liked the song, never agreed with it, it was wrong then, it's wrong now.

Spot on GH10. The most enjoyable team I ever saw was the 1970s Dutch side of 'total football' fame where everyone popped up all over the place. Love to see Spurs play like that and I think we're close to having the players to do it.

I'll be surprised if Bale doesn't win another PFA Player of the Year award this year, he's hit form at just the right time, isn't the voting done next month? I can't see anyone in better form than him at the moment, Van Persie's goals have dried up somewhat and Suarez is too unpopular, and Liverpool inconsistent.

As much as it pains me to say it, I can see him asking for a move in the summer. What I would like to see is for Levy to say "No, give us one more year, and then you are free to go". This is exactly what Man Utd did with Ronaldo and look at how his last season at United turned out, eclipsing the previous ones.

I think Bale will stay with Spurs if we can secure Champions League football for next season.

If not, I can see a one-way ticket to Madrid.

I think that van Persie's going to walk Player of the Year, to be honest. Bale should do the same for the Young Player award, though.

Bale won Player's Player of the Year a few years back and I can see him picking up one of the awards this year too. I think this is around the time they start voting for the Player's one so I can definitely see him getting that again.

RVP will win player of the year, if they can possibly give it to a United player they always do. Giggs FFS and Rooney (the year Drogba outscored him without taking penalties and was our main man in our double winning season).

Bale is looking sensational at the moment though and will certainly be on the shortlist with the likes of Suarez, Mata and....Santos at Arsenal

Yup Mata definitely deserves a mention, has carried you at times this season. Also wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to Lampard as a sentimental choice a la Giggs - though in this case it would be deserved as he has had a decent season. He hasn't won it yet has he?
