Off Topic Baldrick's November Quiz

thanks. for some reason i'd got the recently mentioned 1935 into my head and noticed you'd said 1933 only after making my query. i had cause to look up dates for zebra crossings(1951!!) and belisha beacons lately and got to wondering what happened before zebras.
