<laugh> Good answer, if a rather disingenuous one!

I think I know what you're trying to say here Silver but, according to your own words, you only know of the troubles because it is in the media. This is precisely why F1 should indefinitely postpone their involvement.

With its giant, global audience, F1 focusses the world's media everywhere it travels. It should be obvious that any body of people who feel they have an axe to grind - and at the same time want help from the outside world in order to further their aims (regardless of justification), are likely to want to make use of such a golden opportunity to further their cause. For better or worse, F1 is the biggest possible outlet with which to draw brief but intense attention to their plight. This is a fact and therefore something which cannot be ignored, regardless of how apolitical F1 might prefer to be. This is the very reason F1 should distance itself! - It is the only way to avoid becoming even more of a political football (as Genji correctly refers to it).

An analogy can be drawn with a mugging on the street, where a potential victim ignores warnings that he is treading into a very dangerous neighbourhood. The victim may be 'innocent', but it could be said that he was also rather unwise. In a sense, F1 is walking straight into the path of a political mugging. It needs to stop and turn away.
    And the sooner, the better!

I have, for brevity, reduced my quoting of Genji, but this was very well said.

    Exactly.

But just think of the boost for the viewing figures: tune in for the chance to witness a real-life massacre - LIVE! <monster>

Wise words cosicave, hopefully the FIA will make the right choice then

Short and sweet I know, but the same thing would apply with racism.I can't fully comprehend the whole situation as I'm not involved in that society. I leave it up to the people who do recognise this problem and they have my support to stopping it as they would know what they want out of it. I shouldn't be voicing "my opinion" with this Bahrain issue as I have not experienced it first hand etc etc... so I should be quite clear in that they have my support to resolve this issue sensibly but I can't be part of their opinion towards the other side as I have never set foot in Bahrain.

Fair enough but for me it's simpler than that, it's just a question of common humanity.

Joe Saward has posted a nice blog entry today, entitled No Comment. He (imo rightly) responds to what appear to be outright lies with video evidence. I quote below but I've used photos instead.

Hmmmm I only know a certain McLaren principal who uses the word "frankly" in their sentences, that and a RBR one.

Yeah... I can't make the entire interview fit his voice but he was my first thought. I asked Pablo Elizalde earlier:

"First and foremost priority" sticks out for me as well, that's something Whitmarsh would say.

You only have to listen back to 2010 and 2011 with some of the interviews with Whitmarsh and im so sure it came from his mouth more than once when being interviewed over the seasons.

The only thing is, McLaren is 50% owned by Mumtalakat so either it's not Whitmarsh or the Bahraini government is trying to get the F1 side to cancel it.

Radio 4 has the Bahrain issue being discussed with two sides, pro and against of F1 going there.
