Klose has transformed our defence and Bassong was brilliant today as well. Still much to do but two clean sheets in a row (The Baggies didn't even manage a shot on target) and a two match unbeaten run. Bring on Newcastle!
Comment from Daily Fail - "This is a three-way race to avoid the drop, Norwich still in there fighting and that they are not cut adrift with Aston Villa after such a wretched run is testament to their early season persistence. There is still an argument for Neil being too cautious with his team selection, a refusal to play Graham Dorrans to make sure they are more compact in midfield a case in point."
I've probably been a bit harsh on Bassong in my assessment. But frankly I think anyone who doesn't see that Klose was (literally and figuratively) head and shoulders above the rest needs sectioning. And I don't mind upsetting anyone on that point I'm so certain, I won't even say "no offence"...
Bold move to play Boki and Bamford away from home. Glad it worked out for us. Nice to see AN show some balls in such an important game.
He's a bit of an odd for me. He's supposed to be a striker but rarely goes in to the box (nearly as scared as Bony last week) so is more like an AM (out wide a lot of the time) but with the attributes of a DM I want him scoring goals for fun as that is what I thought he was bought for.
Naismith was/is a complete fecking waste of money, I said so at the time and I stick by that. For us to pay £8.5M for a 30 year old who couldn't get into Everton's first team was complete madness. Our worst buy since Darren Beckford, might as well have pissed those millions down the drain. Basically, I told you so Great result today and if we're all completely honest, none of us saw that coming.
Unless SN starts performing like he did against Liverpool, then I'm inclined to agree with you KIO!!! One thing that REALLY stands out for me this season is that we MUST improve our scouting network if we're ever going to have a hope of being in the PL for any length of time!!!
Funny old do int 'ut. Brady and Klose top drawer (for a club like NCFC) Jarvis, Pinto and Naismith...what was all the fuss (and investment ) about?
I said at the time that Naismith was looking for a retirement plan and a easy life. He's injured or tired because he hasn't played for a while! Should have worked that out before we gave him his pension.
Au contraire KIO old boy! A few were positive we could get a result and I too predicted us to win in my soccer Saturday Super Six entry for reasons I can't explain (my predictions were otherwise awful)
Tbf Pinto was all of, what, £2m? No doubt some Binner will mock the arrogance of that statement, but the fact is £2m isn't much more than a free transfer by PL standards, and so far Pinto has justified that price tag!
I also saw a win for us, I said to Braveheart about us nicking it and tomorrow's derby being a draw! Half way there!
