It isn't that, Carrabuh, it's the way you have to twist any discussion into a criticism of CH (ie. the 'man in charge' you refer to, if indirectly). I don't share Robbie's enthusiasm for the 'Director of Football' approach, which is too often used to distance the Board from the manager, which is the last thing I would want at City.
Sorry, Rick, I tend to disagree. I find some (not all) of carrabuh's posts refreshingly honest and forthright - and true to his cause. When compared to some, who just quote stats, instruct people to "THINK before you post" and generally stomp around like some wannabe dominant alpha male, I know which I prefer
In the good old days, you were right Cromer, unfortunately, of late, carrabuh's posts all have an agenda!
I think it was your own inference. Is Robbie stating that he thinks managers should be guaranteed a job a twisting to his own thoughts on keeping Hughton? I used the scenario of our club to make my point, if we were bottom of the league 5 adrift then you'd have a point.
Thats my opinion, I've got no agenda, I don't really care who wants him out and who wants him in, I just prefer expressing my opinion to those who like him because its more interesting. I have thought about a thread where those that are against can only write positve things about him whilst the pro CH have to argue against it. What do you think?
I think that in general Carrabuh is an intelligent poster. However where he differs from some if the "outers" his position isn't based on league position or results as much as it is on a playing philosophy. This means as some of the "outers" relent or their arguments become weaker as we get some results together Carrabuh's position hasn't changed which can be very frustrating.
If we were bottom of the league and 5 points adrift then I'd probably accept something needs to change, but at the moment we're picking up the points and currently sitting 14th in the league, My opinion can change though, something I feel others can't or won't. We're all entitled to our opinions though, I might question them or disagree but I guess it'll be boring if we all agree on everything lol.
"Made up"? There are plenty of posts on here with comments like "if we don't win such and such games ...." or "if we haven't got XX points by such and such a date ..." then "he has to go" or "he'll be gone". I could name names but prefer not to, but yours would not be among them since you don't indulge in this particular sort of nonsense. As for "load of bollocks", amazing what a load of bollocks stirs up
"What if we were bottom of the league and five points adrift" Classic What if we were 17th and three points off the bottom? What if we were 9th and six points off the top four? What if we were 15th and two points off 9th place? What if were were 12th but only two points off the bottom three? What if we were 7th and five points off 3rd place? What if we were top, with 15 wins out of 15, 187 goals scored and none conceded? What if we were lost in a forest with a bag full of jaspers? These are all potential scenarios we could discuss, why do some people always go for the worst case one?
If you have relegation and promotion, three teams are going to be relegated however good the managers of those teams are. It may well be the case that a team 5-points adrift at the bottom of the league will do best to retain the manager. Many factors account for a team's performance over a season, and often the most serious weakness is not in fact the manager or anything the manager is responsible for (as was the case when Newcastle were relegated but kept CH in place and then ran away with the Championship next season). Has "wrong man" simply come to mean "won't/can't/didn't keep us up"?
I think you need to read the posts again Munky, you have missed the context and the point being made.
That sounds like 'defend the indefensible' that they do on 'Fighting Talk' on radio 5 on Saturdays. Amusing on the radio, debatable whether it would be 'amusing' on here - or evolve into an excuse for more treachery and falling out of contributors?
Carrabuh, We all know that your issue with CH is the style of football and you don't think he can advance this club. I actually happen to agree with you to an extent. However, he is currently keeping us in a respectable place in the league and we are picking up the points where they need to be picked up. Come the end of the season you can shout and moan about how much you want Hughton out but to be calling for it mid season when the team is doing fine is just unnecesary. We are where we are and we have gotten here with CH as manager, just like we stayed up last season under CH. We'd all be far more interested to hear your thoughts on the team, the most recent match, how you would play it for future matches etc. but it gets pretty boring when almost every post has to include a little dig at CH. Otherwise I enjoy and agree with a lot of things you say.
