I don't think Gomis ticks one, single box. He's a mercenary, he's too old, he comes with baggage, uncertainty, a posse of agents and associated fees, would break our wage structure and isn't the kind of character to improve the dressing room.

In this case, I don't think silence means we're pursuing it - I think the club are happy that all eyes are over here, so they can work on whatever else they have going on. For instance, I'd be more surprised to see Cabella arrive than Grenier.

I know he's a mercenary, and I'm not too keen on him because of everything that seems to surround him.

But, if we got him on a €3.7m per annum contract + bonuses, is it actually a bad deal financially and breaking the wage structure?

At today's exchange rates, it works out approx £60m Sterling per annum.

Not that he'll sign anyway, but, no club seems to chomping at the bit to pay him overly ridiculous amounts of money.

I'd like to think we would get a better player offering those sought of wages

If were going to go after freebies we have to increase our wage bracket. We can afford to due so with the tv money. 3 million pounds per year over 3 years + the bonus which is incentives based (so he needs to perform well to get this) will put him at 11 million pounds total cost. I fail to see how thats a big deal. He's not even taking up half of what we made off cabaye when you consider the 2 years of wages at 60k per week PSG took off our hands on top of the 20 + million we got.

I don't particularly want him here and wouldn't be looking to increase the terms beyond what we've apparently offered.
Same as what MYM has been reported as being on, and probably what Remy was on.

It's also a 4 year offer, so would be in the region of £14m, but, still not a big deal as such.
I'm not convinced he's actually worth it, but, if he was to sign I'd give him every chance.

He's got plenty of time to smoke the Turks out yet with a bigger offer anyway.

I agree, he's not my first choice either. He is consistent though not wildly prolific. 14 million for 4 years is not much when you consider his value to be around 10 million pounds. I would prefer we went for someone younger with some pace but a player like that would likely cost us close to 14 million just in transfer fee's. (Chicharito comes to mind).

Gomis is not looking particularly appealing given his record and this whole hullabaloo to sign him up. Got to be players with less baggage?

He wouldn't get a look in playing for us. He needs the team to create for him and then yes he is good at being on hand to snatch the opportunity. We need more for the team effort from any forward we sign.

    1) Only just a tad better than Shola
    2) Cost of agent fees and wages should be reserved for a better striker
    3) The football we would play with him will be back to the glory glory Wimbledon days
    4) Not a prolific scorer or someone with lots of assists and in a weaker league

He's clearly after the money, despite him saying otherwise, so if QPR are in for him he'll go there - despite their wage bill being larger than their turnover.

I'm just not sure about Gomis. His record is pretty average in a very weak league. It all seems to be about money. I know most deals are but this guy a little more so.
