Let's be honest when given a choice between Swansea / Gower and the Ukraine ... in Winter .... what would you choose.
Having lived in both places I would say Swansea. But this is about money and even though it appears we have the upper hand, they have more money than us, a lot more money.
Is that really true. Where would they get their cash flow from — gate money or oligarch owners, surely not merchandising or media.
The owner is a multi billionaire, the same as the owners of dynamo kiev, I have met them all many years ago when I lived and worked out there.
Jager ... then they have more money than stink. So it all comes down to what's in the player's head and heart .... what's new. if we are really still in this game then we have a chance .... but were we ever in the game or just used as leverage.
Perhaps he has seen the problems with football racism in Ukraine. Perhaps we are being played though.
good point swimaway, there have been some terrible incidents involving "fans" treatment of black players in Ukraine and will obviously be a factor in Gomis' decision process. Really hope he chooses us though, a French intenational would be a great addition to our squad, he would definately score goals for us.
Transfer Update: Bafetimbi Gomis Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas has made it crystal clear he wants to offload French international Bafetimbi Gomis this summer. Keep up to date with the latest developments here: Monday 1st July 2013: Jean Michel Aulas confirmed to L’Equipe that that the chairman of Swansea came to Lyon to try and convince Gomis to sign for the club. He believes that the player wants to sign for Swansea and they are in pole position.
If we get this guy AND Bony then I'll be a happy camper. Pick a up a promising 18-20 yr old as more cover and even better. Do need to get some more defenders though
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the club have held talks with Swansea City over the sale of striker Bafetimbi Gomis. However, the 27-year-old has so far refused to accept a move away from the club - which in turn forced the sale of Anthony Martial to Monaco over the weekend. To report a balanced financial set of results for the year, Lyon had to sell by the weekend and with Gomis hesitating they had to look elsewhere for money, and Monaco came in for the highly-rated Martial. Aulas says that Swansea have already agreed terms for the French international striker. "I had the feeling and I was even almost sure we could have convinced Bafe [to leave]," Aulas told L'Equipe. "The Swansea chairman came to Lyon to sign the commitment and we checked the offer was superior to what Bafe earns at Lyon." Aulas insists that they are looking to sort out Gomis' future, but it is down to the player's behaviour. "It has become a behaviour problem more than a sporting problem. I could not imagine he would go against his own interests." Sky sports
This is beginning to get messy, I'd much rather get a player fully committed then have him come dragging and screaming (thats not likely to happen I know )
This Gomis lad is coming across a bit of an @r$ehole in this article. Not sure I'd want somebody with that attitude at our club.
Bafetimbi Gomis has been told he cannot join Lyon's first-team squad at their Alpine pre-season training camp so the French international striker is on-hand to discuss a move away from the club.
