True, it gives the half-wits an instant platform. Shame as it could end up killing off political and cultural satire. Some people have no sense of irony, it always amazes me. In fact sense of humour and ability to process and interpret irony are important factors in how I make judgements about people I meet. The more intelligent ones worth knowing tend to have a good sense of the ironic. The reactionary, dumb ass, half-wits don't.

It's a stereotype, but one with a strong historical context. Medieval Christian laws forbade usury - the application of interest to a loan- (Islam does to this day, as far as I know). Jewish scripture also forbade it, but only to other Jews so therefore Jews often became money-lenders in communities where nobody else was allowed to. This gave them an unfair reputation within many communities and their involvement with banking, and the influence that brings, is sadly at the root of so much anti-semitism.

Maybe so, but Mario should have known better. Common racism can leads to all sorts of things. Look what happened when they were last stereotyped for a nations problems (Weimar Republic hyperinflation for example, fear or communism which was presented as linked to money hungry Jews) - citizenship removed, businesses destroyed, 'relocated', destroyed.
