Badly off Topic. I just need opinions on an idea for work.

    Good idea.

Whenever I travel for work I usually skip breakfast as I've not got the time to sit down and eat.

Agree about the 'risk' of staining a shirt so how about if the sausage/bacon sandwich didn't have sauce (i.e. provide a sachet to apply yourself).

Don't forget your bar staff will have to be trained up in food handling or a member of kitchen staff will have to be present to ensure that food is kept at optimum temperature and the food isn't on disply for too long... I'm an ex-chef.

This. Also a lot of people who stay in hotels for work actually get the first hour of the day clearing e-mails etc while having breakfast before having to spend the day on the run at meetings etc I personally like to chill and have a leisurely breakfast in peace before I rush around for most of the day. The idea sounds good for some in a hurry but I think a lot of people will still like to sit and have a proper breakfast.

We have a vending machine at work which has pies, pastys & sausage rolls with 2013 expiry date on them, imagine getting one with only a week before it reaches expiry date and knowing it's been sitting in the machine for a couple of years <ok>

Is it going to be exclusively one or the other? If so I think you'll pose a problem for the hotel lobby staff as people who aren't intending on leaving the hotel with their food and gonna find the nearest place to sit...However if this is an additional service then I think its a great idea!

Any chance we can get a free taster?

It sounds like a good idea, I personally wouldn't use it as I find it hard to walk and eat at the same time. I always find myself stopping to take a bite, however not with ice cream. So maybe make some sausage flavoured ice cream.

In my opinion this seems like an idea to integrate a fast food outlet into a very reputable hotel (I think I read that it was 5*?). That just wouldn't wash with AA or whoever dishes out the stars to the hotels.

Regardless of the quality of the food in question, it would not seem appropriate to be checking in at the lobby whilst somebody rushes past you with a sausage roll and his laptop under his arm. That is the sort of thing you expect to see at Ibis Ho(s)tels.

I think you've got a good concept and I like the BreakFAST idea, but for me, I think it would tarnish the perception of the hotel if this was carried out in a main area of the hotel, especially when a group of business men turn up and see the bellboy scraping bits of squashed bacon out of the carpet.

    I'm out.

Agree with Terry about 5* hotel and the fast food idea, it is something probably more suited to somewhere say the travel lodge (which is a great hotel I may add).

But why not still offer the quick to go breakfast, but they order it the night before so you are preparing what is required and can just be collected and out. Chances are people won't start eating it until they are in there cars if it wrapped up.
Should cut down on people mulling around the receiption area.

I run a sales team for a bank and stay in hotels three nights midweek , every week. You might take some fruit but can't see business people taking anything else. Too much hassle with yoghurt or fruit salad.
Also, NOBODY pays for their own breakfasts with work.........hence the apathy.

Price differential needs to be substantial.........say £5 for a pack like you get in a DaysINN on motorway to say £12 at hotel for continental breakfast.
