Laudrup is rumored to about to give up and move on in the next 24hrs or less as he feels like he has been duped by jinx and his false promises....

Totally agree. A bloody disgrace!! Jenkins has really blotted his copybook with this one. I have to wonder if he is a fit person to take us on, whether he can cut the job at this level.

No doubt the Canas episode is just one of the factors. The player, it is widely reported, turned down twice the salary from West Brom to be with Laudrup, so £2 million is a reasonable ask in my book.

If Laudrup leaves, the spine will be ripped from the side and we will be in a state of total chaos at the start of the toughest season ever for us. If all this does transpire and nothing has been been exaggerated, I have to ask the question; has Jenkins taken us as far as his abilities allow? Right now, in the absence of any explanation from the club, my answer would be yes.

And I would agree with that statement. Quite frankly, on viewing the TV piece on the Swans History, I was underwhelmed with Dineen also.

Steady on. I've not posted once since this has blown up because we don't know the facts here. And we still don't.

Remember that Laudrup has a recent history of falling out with chairmen and engineering departures so it may not be as simple as it seems. I don't trust agents at all and Tutumlu seems like a snake to me who is well capable of manipulating situations for his client's (and his own) ends.

If Laudrup's demands have been reasonable (as opposed to the £200M he mentioned - I hope in jest - recently) then the Board are very very wrong in not stumping up and I will be absolutely furious, like the rest of you. However, if he is asking for us to shell out what we cannot afford then the Board are right to block it. Remember Hull anyone? Laudrup knew the score when he came here, remember. We run a tight ship and are held up as a model of the way a club should be run. That's down to Jenkins & the Board.

In all probability the disagreements are about players in the £8M-£10M range that Laudrup wants. If that's right, then Jenkins should seriously think about compromising here, because we can certainly afford it right now. Too much is at stake for this not to be worked out. If I'm right about that and Laudrup walks, then and only then can we blame the Chairman.

I do worry that Jenkins is almost trying to prove a point in doing a decent job on a budget and maybe he should be thinking bigger but not at any cost so let's not rush to judgment until we know more. Had we 'thrown Jenkins in the dugout' all those years ago as suggested by the usual 'I told you so' brigade we may well have not got promoted, not appointed Laudrup, not won the Cup and not finished 9th last season, so be careful what you wish for.

    Nice one Jager!

This thread has become a self-fulfilling gossip-ridden old-woman fest, where one poster tries to out-do the previous poster in their level of hysteria.

Just as well no-one has their finger on the nuclear button.

As I said on another thread, great news but why wasn't a statement issued sooner? This story has been gaining momentum like a runaway train and it would have been a quick and simple job to refute the allegations.

Jenkins' silence has contributed in no small way to the "hysteria" as it's been called and he should remember that he has a duty, via the shareholders Trust, to keep the supporters informed in matters such as this. It is not his private club.

I'm pleased for now but I shall only celebrate when I hear that Laudrup endorses what has been said.

Why should they say anything about speculation? If Laudrup leaves then so be it, but until then they shouldn't be expected to refute claims in a newspaper.

Jenkins has made a statement that should stop some of this.

I do hope it is all BS and not a case of " no smoke without fire"

I wonder how many will engage their virtual reverse gear  , it's not been pleasant few weeks and we're only finished the season 3 weeks ago so god help us if something credible should be reported .In this day and age with the internet , rumours will abound and any one who's followed this club shouldn't be surprised at any speculation regarding us/ club.I recently posted ( as a wind up) that B Rodgers was being considered for replacement ,lo & behold a few days later this appears http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=122121, thats just an example of the murky world of journalism .I take comfort that the board (if) the rumours are true are not getting carried away with paying out for wages which cannot be sustained .The manger knew the position when he joined and nothing has changed in that respect , managers come and go and he will soon join the list of one of them but the club remains and how it's run and managed has to be sensible, we may not agree but don't forget the board have been here a lot longer than a one season manager who by his own admission doesn't see us as his long term project, everyone takes the p**s out of QPR but look at the legacy that M Hughes left with his purchases.

If that's the case why has a statement been issued now? Laudrup hasn't left yet has he and, God willing, he won't. Great news about Canas though. I'm assuming there's no way he would sign if Laudrup WAS leaving.

Because probably they have news to give, and signing a player taht is coming here because of Laudrup being here is significant. I don't think the club should say anything on speculation.

In principle, I understand your point Jager about not responding to every line of tripe written or uttered in the media, that would be ridiculous. However, media management and protecting the brand are the duty of the club whether they like it or not, or want to be fussed with it or not. There are parties all over Europe, actually all over the world now, that may not understand the circus that has just been played out but nevertheless receive all of this "information" and retain an impression. Overtime this negativity can aggregate and work to our detriment.

We need to get smarter at reading, identifying and responding to reputation eroding media flow - even if it is a terse one liner put on on official channels, a statement on a club web site, facebook page, twitter feed, whatever.
