As captain he had a responsibility to manage and motivate players, his statement publically criticised the club he represents so I would suggest team mates will find it hard to respect him now. I can't see how he can can retain the armband and I just have the view (a view not shared by everyone I accept) that Arsenal are better off without him
i agree with you mate but i can imagine an overwhelming outcry by aresnal fans should he move to manu.
It's not just that either, as Treat says, selling Utd and strengthening our rivals is akin to not signing a top player like Cazorla and keeping the cash instead. It's all about how strong we are this season - and how well equipped we are to match our rivals, nothing else really matters.
Look at Sir Bacon Face having a whinge about us not accepting their bid: http://www.manutd.com/en/Tour2012Te...n-on-van-persie-and-lucas-moura.aspx?pageNo=1
i personally believe he won't be a big loss though i do concede he may well be a boost to united though provided we spend the cash (damiao being my choice) i can see us ultimately benefitting over united.
We're not giving anything away because we have no interest in selling our best player. Hopefully this is the sentiment of Arsene and the board.
in addition to what i said previously the following is also my belief. Rvp won't play with full heart and be a tenth of the player we saw last season, sign precontract with manu in january and leave for free next season. I don't think we'll come off the winner that way.
10 upfront and the rest based on targets and installments. More than worth it though as I am sure you will agree. Also the world wasnt in a recession at the time, the opposite infact.
You dont want to sell to United but happily sell to City? Effectively making yourselves lower in the pecking order.
I'm still suprised Chelsea haven't got involved. They need a striker. If Torres gets injured they're ****ed. Lukaku is a joke.
Arsenal CANNOT sell RVP to Manunited, of all teams this is one we CANNOT sell too. Talk of selling him to make 25 million rather than nothing is BULL ****, to those who make this argument do you realise what you're saying? To sell our best striker to MANCHESTER UNITED, though we have fallen off from them in years, they are still a main rival to us, and I think I speak for most Arsenal fans when I also say f--k United, it's as bad as him going to Spurs. I'd rather make zero money than strengthening a rival team, Manu are struggling big time in the transfer market, and so why the f--k should we give them a major boost that might just be the signing that allows them to finish above us next season? Arsenal need to play rough here, RVP can only be sold to an oversees team, and I don't care if it's for less money than what United or City would have paid, you cannot sell your best player to a rival and then expect to be taken seriously. And who actually thinks that Fergie would ever sell us one of his best strikers? It would never happen. Last but not least, if RVP is contemplating this move, which reports seem to indicate he is, then he can well and truly go f--k himself, it's a spit on the fans, the club, but most of all, it's a spit on Wenger, the very man who made this punk, and so to leave Wenger to a major personal rival of his in Fergie is beyond an insult, it's so infuriating to the point that it makes very very very angry, angrier than what we had to endure with the likes of Adebayor and Nasri. How the f--k is this guy going to say he loves Arsenal when he's going to be playing for Manu? He will be the ultimate Judas if he goes to Manunited, and in my book, the official most hated Arsenal player ever if he does so.
No, because they lack sufficient quality elsewhere to be a threat, if we sold RvP to spurs, it would be annoying, but we'd make money and still finish ahead of them. If we sold RvP to you, we'd be ****ed, big time.
I'm actually going to say it would be worst than Spurs, Spurs are a sh!t team, they ain't never going to become that successful like your Arsenal's and Manu's, so that's why it would hurt much more to sell him to you, because you're a successful club, and what he'd do is insure that success continues, at Arsenal's cost.
