We have to get a quality striker....Charlie austin?...Charlie Chaplin better than gomis!

I agree. Austin would be a great signing. IMO i'd see if there's a possibility in sending Gomis to QPR as part of a player plus cash deal for Austin.

We don't need another striker, What we need is for our strikers to perform and they cant do that unless they get the service. We are not using grimes enough for a start to push gomis and install the fact he is not an automatic choice every game and has to justify his place and by giving Grimes a few games will do that...

Grimes is not a striker so thats probably why Gomis isn't looking over his shoulder <doh>

I think we're walking past Emnes and Eder too quickly. We shouldn't dismiss players possible input that haven't been given a chance.Knee jerk , new spending is creeping into our train of thought for solutions .5 million for Eder , and he is unused , and we want to spend on more.Lets see what we have till we spend again I say

I'd like to see Eder start a game , he played in the CoC and was unlucky not to score so he has the ability to get into scoring positions but like all players if you don't play how can you become confident in your own abilities .Perhaps then that might refocus Gomis's mind on the matter in hand and desist that stupid grinning when he fuggs up .

Matt is a very good player who likes to play attacking football....

On 28 August 2014, Grimes received his first call-up to the England national under-20 team for the friendly match against Romania.[13] In March 2015, Grimes came off the bench to captain the Under 20s in a win against Mexico. He also scored a penalty in the eventual shoot-out following a 1–1 draw. 4 days later, he started as captain at Home Park in 2–1 win over the United States, wearing the number 7 shirt.

Nice copy and paste but where does it state he's a striker?

So he cant play as a striker then <doh>Who says ? he loves to go forward ...what is the matter with some of you tonight. at least im trying to talk football and not trying to point score all the time or bring up past managers when it has nothing to do with what we are trying to discuss by some of us......grow up or **** off to a kids forum where some of you belong...

Grimes is an attacking midfield player with a wand of a left foot....he can fill in on the left but doesn't really have the pace.
He certainly does not have the attributes to play up top and....as far as I can tell...has never played there in his, admittedly, short career.
He is competing with Ki, Shelvey and Siggy for a spot in the team.
The fact you aren't aware of these basic "facts" Dai says a lot <laugh>

Re: Striker
I believe the mistake was buying Eder as back up to Gomis in the first place. I stated at the beginning of the summer that we needed a Bony replacement for Gomis to compete with....I believe most of us could see that.....and it's looking more and more like we've made a boo boo.

However, as we've shelled out £5m squid on Eder he at least deserves a chance when Gomis is not performing otherwise what was the point in signing him?

You stated he's been a striker. Where has he played and been successful as a striker Dai?

Not trying to score points at all , you made a statement which I questioned .

It's the premier league we're talking about here. Quite rightly we'd be up in arms if Grimes got started up front with the qualification being that he "loves to go forward." Would be nice if Mr Ayew could tap up his mate Asamoah Gyan and convince him to come back from the Middle East to the Premier League, he is a true goalscorer. As for our current predicament I'm with you on the starting Eder front. The little I have seen of him, he likes to put himself about a bit, but as has been said, needs minutes now to prove what he can do for us.
