That's what they mean by being "match fit". He wasn't. On top of his game, he'd after taken it first time, but not being match fit, he wanted that extra touch.
I can just imagine the uproar if Altidore missed the Fletcher chance... Not condoning or encouraging criticism of Fletch, btw, just think some fans have double standards when it comes to those two..
My take was that if the Fletch opportunity had gone to any other player but him we could have maybe gained either from a shot or first time dink back across the goal. As it stands it landed on the wrong foot of a rusty player and his responses let him down on this accasion. Everything about the team and fans was great yesterday, but Fletch is coming back for a crucial period in our season. I'm sure he'll make up for it somehow.
Think that as said rustiness took over, we just need to take heart from our performance and power on to safety
I thought the impetus changed a soon as Cattermole went off. They hardly got anywhere near our box when he was on in the second half. He looked knackered like as he'd played well. They all did. A lot are sayingabout their 2 goals. Look at ours. If Gerrard had played that pass to Borini they'd be purring about it. And the finish was sublime. ?
Thats what bothers me now RJ. We are in a similar position to Wigan last year. We are falling behind just a little bit but with games in-hand. Wigan couldn't make up the deficit with their games, and our postponed games are toughies. The sooner we get back to league business the better. Having said that, if we can bring the wembley spirit into our remaining games we should be well safe by the end of the season.
Super Proud. Toure's goal was a cross and fluke, if he meant that than I'm next in line to the throne of England. He didn't even look up, he just looped into the box and in it went. I don't that should be taking the shine off Nasri, who's goal was sheer brilliant and easily goal of the match.
