I absolutely adored it, it's a great city, and possibly the best thing about World Youth Day is the people, not just from other countries but the natives. They were treating it sarcastically before it started, but as the week went on the majority of the inhabitants started waving and joining in more and more!
My experience with the Spaniards is that once they see you are enjoying their country, they warm to you. They have a wonderful, social country, there is barely a week passes without a festival, or some reason to get out in the open and have some kind of shindig. I liked Spain before the move, obviously, but i'm genuinely falling in love with the place, it just feels like more of a life out here, like my time isn't as precious, and that is a wonderful feeling to have.
Good planning! My mate just came back from Cordoba, was there for a week, pics are fantastic, he said it was a great city as well. Seems there is history and heritage everywhere here, and some stunning architecture. I'm a bit of a building geek, so i like this.
TBH I'm just gutted there wasn't enough time to see the Sagrada Familia, but I'll go there at some point.
Your only young mate, once you get through uni etc, the world is your oyster. I've had the privelige of geting round the world and seeing what it's about, and i tell you mate, it's a must do, if you can. I'll be grateful till the day i die for some of the places i've had the chance to see, and i'm not finished yet by a long shot!
That's why I considered doing Women studies as a degree. A year out in a broad sounded class to me...
