Well it looks like Stones is a non starter, Everton have dug in. Understand their frustration, but unless they think they will get more next season, the Player will always be leaving sooner or later. Hope he keeps improving or they might just have made a mistake. Pogba is not looking good either, but I hope still a possibility. What will the rags do for stories when the window closes?
It remains to be seen whether Everton will cave in but it does seem like clubs that have traditionally been bullied into selling their best players are feeling a bit more confident, perhaps because of the recent influx of money into the game. Also, I believe Stones recently signed a new long term contract. That means Everton can take their time over selling him. As long as he doesn't have a car crash season his value will be the same next summer and Everton will have a year to look into who they can replace him with. WBA are being similarly bullish over Berahino.
Yeah I cannot really blame Everton to be honest. They made it clear from Day 1 that he wasn't for sale but we persisted. Like you say though, they gotta just hope that Stones performs well this season and that his value doesn't drop. A lot of the time, mid table clubs accept the fact that the bigger clubs are going to come in and nick their best players, and they have to just make sure they get the best price for them so they can recruit an adequate replacement. But sometimes, these clubs just think "No......**** you....Enough of this ****". Understandable, especially if, as is the case now, they don't think they will be able to replace him in time. You can bet your ****ing arse that if was United that had bid for Stones though, Everton would have bent over and spread their ass cheeks.....
