The length of his contract vs his suspect knee is surely irrelevant. Insurance will cover both him and the club should he be forced to retire and, whilst the premium will be higher as it's a known issue, terms related to that insurance should be written into the contract? 3 years could have been seen as a foot in the door, see how you do and in a year we negotiate a longer deal. Perhaps so it doesnt clash with the expiry of several other players contracts. Release clauses seem to be a common thing now too, ensuring the player has the chance to move to a bigger club if he performs well. £10 million likely equals a profit versus signing fees and wages over his contract.

Well at least 10 mill would go a long way towards a replacement, maybe papiss cisse or someone else

I wouldn't worry lads as old Bagpuss could well be sewing mailbags in Her Majesty's Pleasure this summer with a bit of luck.

    Ba isn't a loyal player

He'll go where he wants, let's just hope the talk of him disliking London is true

Seems very happy here but he's got a history no one can deny that. This is real ****ty news tbh, if he doesn't go this month he'll be off in the summer for sure now. The only thing that can save us are his medical doubts, and whether he can even pass one. I really don't want him to go, best striker we've had since Shearer.

I'm scared to lose him because we all know he could get in any teams starting 11 in this league. Maybe not Man City's, but pretty much everyone elses.

I don't think I've ever come across a bigger hypocrite in football than Harry Redknapp.

Personally, i cant stand the bloke. With him, it really is one rule for me, another rule for everyone else. He whines more than a girlfriend pining for attention.

He looks awful too. I'm quite tempted to go down to London, and take him out on a shopping spree. Hopefully make him look abit more radiant and less like droopy.

According to Football_Agent9 on twitter (not the most reliable of people IMO) the release clause is to those in Europe.

We took a gamble on him. It has paid off. £10m profit on a FREE not bad business. Would hate to lose the lad. He's like Shola on steroids.........

I don't think he wants to leave and he seems to be loving it here

    BUT

If a team like Spurs meets this release clause (if it exists) is he really going to turn down CL football and a much higher wage?

Much higher wages? Not many players on really high wages at Spurs, and seeing as we got Demba on a free, I expect he's on the wage cap plus bonuses.

CL football? Maybe, but we can go for Europa League <diva>

Spurs have the same wage cap as us, which is what Ba will be on.
