I don't subscribe to the Max being a brat part, because who Max is has been shaped by his upbringing, and by all accounts it's not a particularly wonderful story. He is an exceptional racer though. But on saying that, with a contract extension already in the bag, I do hope Checo throws everything he has at trying to mount a title challenge. This could be his one and only shot.

verstappenn is 24, not 13, he’s been racing in f1 for 7 years, stop making excuses for him. He’s a multi millionaire. He behaves like a whiny child, and he knows what he’s doing and because he knows nobody will give him the punch he deserves, he’ll be like that for the rest of his life.

It's difficult for a person to break their programming. He's been groomed for this for a long time. That's not an excuse, it's just what it is.

Either way, as a racer, he's a phenomenal talent

    Rank Driver Speed (KM/H) Difference
    1 Perez 334.6 N/A
    2 Verstappen 334.3 0.3
    3 Albon 330.2 4.4
    4 Gasly 327.9 6.7
    5 Tsunoda 327.5 7.1
    7 Hamilton 327.0 7.6
    13 Leclerc 325.6 9.0
    18 Sainz 323.0

I think this should help people see why I was convinced (and still am) that Red Bull will win this one.

9kmph speed advantage without drs coming into play on the straight.

    Hamilton is faster than ferrari.

The interesting thing is in quali this didn't make the difference but we are talking race now.

The only person who didn't quali well on that list is albon interestingly.

The question pre race on drag may well be showing up here.

He is a sulking, demanding, mouthy, so and so.

If he is like this in front of the world God only knows what he is like in private. I shudder to think.

I'm well past excusing anyone for stuff due to talent personally

Tell you what there’s a Brundle sized hole in this weekends coverage. Never has it been more obvious how key he is to Skys coverage.

Watching the speed overlay on max's car it looks like he runs out of electrical power towards the end of straight.

It's not the fact brundle is that good.

I can remember him coming on first and taking over grid walks after returning.

The fact is he is a small constraint on the utter dry rot that is croft

Croft misses half the stuff going on, is usually late to the party in seeing a pass and half the time gets himself set up for a dramatic pass that isn't actually going to happen.

It says it all that he is obsessed with having a catch phrase like walker who went go go go.

The clown even made a big deal of this in the test when practice starts were happening.

Lights out and away we go...... sad sack.

It's the fact he starts dreaming up utter nonsense to say when nothing is happening that someone like brundle has to nicely tell him he is making it clear he hasn't one clue what he is on about that will make people miss brundle.

During covid button did races and he was very good, better than brundle and more relevant to today's cars and drivers

It'll be interesting to see if that's a quali only issue.

The others must be gaining round the slower section and merc m7st be suffering there as their top speed is good.

Last year there was 4 speed measurements but I can't find these for yesterday

I know it's early but this is supposed to be a track where drivers can overtake! It's looking like another street track procession.

This is why Ferrari won’t win any of the championships sadly, reliability.

Tbf Red Bull and Ferrari have had similar reliability problems so far this season, Mercedes seems the most reliable car but alot slower but in sure there be alot closer by mid season.

My view, probably wrong, is unless Sainz doesn’t improve next season and Merc fail to improve as well, I could see Ferrari going for Russell for the start of the ‘24 season.
