There it is again, blinkered hatred of Pardew. It must sting your poster boy Ben Arfa has been fully exposed as a charlatan eh? Or you still trying to blame Pardew for that imbecile? Cisse and Riviere have been available quite a bit this season, but Pards has stuck with Perez. That exposure to first team football has helped him develop quickly. Great management. Riviere had out performed Perez in pre season, was the more experienced player so was rightly given a run. Perez has been handled brilliantly.

Sissokso was ****e as a central midfielder in his first season. Again great management to give him game time out wide, then once he got to grip with the pace and upped his workrate, turned him into the player he is. A far better player for his time under Pardew as the player says himself.

Dress it up any which way you please, our youth set up under Pardew's stewardship is better than at any time in recent history. Including Sir Bob and KK. Not a great manager but done some good stuff. Always best give credit when its due <ok>

i knew before opening this thread you would have said that

to be fair he was an unknown youngster from the spanish 2nd division who was brought in as one for the future, none of us expected him to be near the 1st team for a good while. injuries an the like have forced pardews hand in starting him but he has shown quality which we have been severely lacking in recent years to retain his place which if im not mistaken is the norm, when players do well the keep their place. pardew has kind of given him a free role which is what suits perez best

He reminds me of a young 22 yo, signed from Vancouver 30+ years ago.
If he ends up half as good, he'll be some player.

If he stays grounded (he seems the type) and keeps performing like he is he is a guaranteed fan favourite. Looks mint. I think Pardew has managed him well also. Seems to be loving it. Looks like a player you can trust to give free roam as he is a real grafter. Pops up here there and everywhere contributing defensively as well as up top

Been really impressed with him, signing of the season for us by a mile personally, although Colback deserves a mention. Strange that Perez has been able to settle so quickly coming from the Spanish 2nd division which you would have thought is lower quality than Ligue 1, when Cabella has really struggled. It's even stranger because they're relatively similar, small and technically good with decent pace and good feet, yet the younger, more raw player has settled quicker. For me Perez just looks like he wants it more and works harder which is great to see in someone so obviously gifted, as footballers like that can often just become lazy and reliant on skill as opposed to combining it with effort.

Got to say I thought if he came in and scored 3 goals all season it would be a good effort, as I expected him to be a super sub type player this year. To score five and be a key part of the team by now is a very impressive start.
