Alonso just a superb weekend so far, a huge congratulations to him.

Just what could he do in that Red Bull? Beast!

Same question with any great car.... That's F1 though.

Great job by Alonso! Man... I hope he takes another shot at the Indy 500.

It’s a shame though. With the track improving I think he was nailed on for row 2, maybe even sitting where Alonso is. Fernando, George and Carlos were all stars in that quali.

Alonso has been magic this weekend so far. I think he is proving to Alpine he is not over the hill yet

It was always a risk... But sometimes you just need to have the balls to give it a go. Had it paid off, could have been pole.

The slicks gamble was weird to me. It's not really going to gain them much, the Red bulls and Ferraris will beat them in race pace. All it has done has handed Hamilton grid position ahead...

Unfortunately on a dry track tomorrow he will be back to his “driving Miss Daisy” antics and prevent any attempt at an actual race.

Well... One, you get a pole. Two, you start higher up the pecking order, meaning you're likely to finish higher. Worth the gamble.

They look pretty solid, and if he drives defensively at any point, that's just as legitimate as any other method.

I didn’t say it wasn’t legitimate, it will just make for a completely boring race.

Come on.. Mercedes are not that desperate to go for fake glory. That's something a midfield team would do. It's not going to help their situation.

Was Lewis so happy with 4th or just that he out qualified his team mate?

Or he might get a flyer at the start and take Max out into turn one...

    ...here's hoping...

Chance at pole, or settle for 3rd or 4th?

And when did pole become fake glory? They all put a lot of effort in to it every weekend if it doesn't count for much.

Russell saw an opportunity there, took a chance... It didn't pay off. But you've got to admire his balls for giving it a shot.
