Weather radar looks a bit intense. Might stop by the time quali comes round but possibility of damp track.
It's Ferrari doing, well you know... Ferrari things. And you have to hand it to Red Bull, they have a great machine that may well just get better and better... And they have two drivers seemingly on top of their game. But... My predictions usually have a tendency to be entirely inaccurate, so I've not given up all hope just yet.
It would be great to see active suspension reintroduced for these cars (don't think that's even a remote possibility this season though.) It might make for some pretty incredibly close racing and some pretty quick times. But if RBR are resisting it, I totally get that. They have the least to gain from it right now
Good race pace from Max as expected, some promising laps from limited data for Carlos (mediums), and a very impressive run from Fernando Alonso (hards).
I think you are right, lots of posturing going on re bouncing and budget caps. Some how Merc had a second floor stay all ready to go almost as soon as technical directive came out saying they are allowed! Almost as if they knew the TD was coming out before it was published! Then we have Horner whinging about inflation and budget caps, and now Zac has joined in after being so vocal about wanting the budget cap and saying they already know they will breach it! The FIA need to get on top of both bouncing and budget cap issues - they need to inform the teams of the potential for big penalties if the cap is breached - big enough for then to re-evaluate their spending! As for Horner going on about inflation - as a big user of electricity (wind tunnel) I would be very surprised if they didn't have a long term contract with a supplier at a fixed price. Where I used to work we ran wind tunnels that where capable of over mach 1 and at altitude so we used masses of electricity - so much that in winter we couldn't run from 4 till 8 as national grid couldn't supply us and UK in peak period! We always had long term contracts - sometimes 3 to 5 years!!
Looks like it's wet FP3 and probably a damp quali!!! Could be interesting. No idea what the forecast is for race tomorrow!
The way Lewis is talking I wouldn't be at all surprised if he didn't retire at the end of the season unless Merc can find a way to stop bouncing and get down force.
Ask why the Merc drives like a Mexican car hopper and the Redbull doesn’t. I’m amazed the Merc hasn’t shaken it’s suspension to bits to be honest, it’s that bad. Merc will have to have a fundamental resign to be competitive next season. As much as Horner is an arsehole and is whining about the salary cap, Redbull have got a great design for their car, and so have Ferrari, even if that does bounce a lot more than the Redbull
So here we are again. A.biy of rain amd its again "too dangerous" What on earth is going on. F1 is dead.
What's the real time in Canada. The quali is starting an hour later than race and frankly I expect another bottle job here where they sit and wait for rain to stop etc. It seems to me that they've now a precedent that rain = unsafe and I note horner is already out making political statement s about drivers getting their eye in to try stave off the no drive in rain scenario. I presume red bull beleive they have an auto 1/2 here if they get to trundle round as sainz will crash and le clerc has too.much to do.
So is it Alonso’s skills coming to the fore or is it just that the Alpine warms up the tyres better? Obviously Alonso will says it’s option A when they ask him later. Ocon is well up the order too though.
