City will beat Chelsea and Nottingham Forest to top four.
Provisional top four
1.Liverpool
2.Arsenal
3.Manchester City
4.? ???
Wouldn't be so sure about that. Forest (aside from today, missing Danilo) have shown they are very compact and hard to break down. Chelsea are a complete unknown at the moment, good one game, **** the next.

Can see a draw with Forest and the Chelsea game who knows.
So whilst they could get 6pts, I could also see them picking up just 2 or 3.

I actually think villa might sneak in there. Made some good and more importantly experienced January additions that may be the difference in the business end of the season.

Forest have been great, but you often find that the more inexperienced sides lose their nerve during the run in for the CL spots.

Have to say it's pretty funny reading through the thread. Wasn't able to watch, but was listening to 5 live and text updates. These were full of praise throughout the match on how Liverpool were in total control, even without the ball and basically City weren't actually having a sniff of actually scoring.

Then you read through this thread and it's all doom and gloom, even when we were a goal up. Even when we got the second it was like many thought we were still going to give it away.

think we all know they won’t get any charges.

A fine that is big enough to make headlines but little to do real damage - talking maybe £10m or something and maybe a 10-15 point penalty this season and then allow them to crack on next season fresh

Yes but they should at minimum get a transfer ban and they are talking about them signing even more in the summer.

the matchday threads bear little resemblance to the actual games .

Anything could happen yet.

Newcastle got hockeyed by city and now beat forest in 12 minutes. Villa were losing last night then come.back v chelsea.

Bournemouth lost to wolves.

Last week villa drew with ipswich

The weekend before forest hammer Brighton by 7. And Newcastle lost to fulham

It's very close between the teams. Results are all over the place and there's very little thst seems to be tipping them one way or the other.

I think being Liverpool fans we fear the negative and when city dominating ball you think it seems like only matter of time before city break us down.

Where as pundits and neutrals look at it and go city passing the ball around and look toothless.

I was bit concerned watching 2bd half as hated fact at times we couldn’t get out, but in hindsight city didn’t threaten us at all.

Villa is a shout. Only issue they have is their defensive injuries and so far this season they’ve struggled playing 2 games a week after CL so depends how they do in that comp when kicks off again soon.

Salah should win every award this swaon
That was a very odd game and prob the absolute blue print of this Slot team that we just haven’t got used to yet.

We aren’t going to blow teams away like Klopp teams, we’d have race dinto a 3/4 lead under Klopp but we’d also have conceded a couple counters and won 4-2.

Slot seems very much play in 3rd gear then 4/5 times a half step it up for 4th and 5th and that’s where need to be clinical. Then drop it down and in that 2nd half it was sit solid and force city to break us down.

wasn’t pretty at times but despite doku constantly running at TAA, he offered nothing and didn’t actually get into any great positions and we just kept them at arms lengths.

Was bit surprised with 10-15 to go we didn’t get Quansah on to almost double up on doku with taa.

Shout to Endo though. Came on, sat there and won the ball around edge of our box 2 or 3 times to relieve the pressure.

overall a very professional away performance against a team that won 4-0 at home in their last game.
I don’t actually rate Doku. I certainly wouldn’t swap him for Diaz in the same position. He’s just another Grealish.

Seriously i was unconcerned from the moment we went 2 up . Never thought City would get back into it and we were more likely to hit them on the break .

Bit unfair to doku.

I'm.sure he is not a raging alcoholic

Grealish at his best is a wait for contact and flop type merchant with very little end product over all.

He's not even ever broken 10 goals in any of his city seasons from.lw and his assists are tiny too.

For a 100 million plauwr he is a massive flop.

He's basically done more falling over than anything.

Doku has 2 seasons for City now and imo has never really been first choice but has done just as well as the flopper in terms of goals and assists.

He can beat a man but has no delivery. He will try go beat them again or run right to the sideline rather than just deliver to the zone of most danger.

Compared to watching villa who had genuine threat or watch even Everton who were always going g motors it in the mix and fight for it city really played in front of us.

My main worry from the off was the amount of space in front of our back 4 they had. Once slot addressed that by dropping jones back into midfield we got better.

My main worry all half was players being pulled out of position like konate who was constantly chasing marmoush deep into midfield but city never actually really had a runner into that space. It was there but they couldn't hit it.

There is a gap if you look for it .

Between 4th and the rest?

I'm talking about the champions league spots.

44 to 40 is 4th to 9th. 47 to 40 is 3rd to 9th.

Literally any results could happen by the looks of it.

8th looks to be conference league so far unless city don't win the fa cup so I really couldn't even begin to predict 3rd to 8th

Arsenal dropping 3 doesnt compensate for us dropping 4 but we've still extended the lead again.

Arsenal maximum is largely irrelevant but 89 is now 25 points away so with 11 left to play we can lose 2 and draw 1 and still be there. 8-1-2 record needed.

Every Arsenal dropped point is a dagger in their hearts from here.

8 wins from

Newcastle h
Southampton h
Everton h
Fulham a
West ham h
Leicester a

Spurs h
Chelsea a
Arsenal h
Brighton a
Palace h

That block of 5 games looks tasty now.

Especially if forest and utd do anything against l'arse.

Wonderful result today, but unless we get three points on Wednesday, it's not over yet. £ home games now - win them all and it's all over IMO.

He got too close first half many times. Not aggressively but just in too close and stood up or walked round.

He did drop off and it was wise.

Trent certainly wasn't getting too close, he was annoying me because he kept standing off and letting turn and run at him.
